Community Feedback - School Maintenance

Each term I meet with the DoE Asset Services Officer to discuss school and P&C funded projects, and DoE maintenance upgrades. While I have my opinions, and our SRC has theirs, I am also seeking community voice. At the previous P&C Meeting I sought the assistance of the community to assist me in identifying potential maintenance projects the school could purpose to the assets team.

Please send your maintenance suggestions to pandcpps@gmail.com where they will be collated and tabled at the next P&C meeting.

Assemblies

In 2025 we are changing our assembly structure to provide an opportunity for whole school, K-2 and 3-6. In addition, we are working in 2025 to lift the profile of our elected student leaders through providing opportunities for school captains, sport captains and SRC to host whole school assemblies.

Today was a trial as a whole school hosted by our Sport Captains. It was an opportunity to come together as a connected school, acknowledge active learners across the school and present our Library Monitors with their badges. It was a success!

Below is the planned schedule for the HOST of our assemblies in 2025. Our regular assemblies are held Friday's in the hall, commencing at 12.20pm. Parents and carers are welcome to attend. Families will be notified about special event assemblies closer to the event, as these may occur on a different day and time.

Support for Parents and Carers - eSafety

With children having an increase in access to online forums and electronic devices it is imperative that parents and carers are educated on how to support their child.

The eSafetyCommissioner is a great resource for families. It addresses topics to support families in navigating the online world our children are living in. Use the eSafetyCommissioner Parent page link below to add to your favourites, allowing you quick access when required.

https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents

If your child is being impacted by online abuse, the advice provided is to get help immediately. You can do this by:

  1. Calling Triple Zero (000) immediately if their physical safety is at risk.
  2. Contacting a counselling and support service like Kids Helpline.
  3. Block the person from further contact and ability to harm.
  4. Report online harm.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

At PPS we have three formal scheduled opportunities to report back to parents and carers about their child's growth and development. These opportunities are:

  • Term 1 - Parent/Teacher Interviews
  • Term 2 - Semester 1 Report
  • Term 4 - Semester 2 Report

Additional opportunities are made throughout the year at the request of the parent or carer or the request of the school. Information will be sent out to families in the coming weeks for Parent/Teacher Interviews which will be held Monday 7th April - Friday 11th April.

Principal on Leave

I would like to let the community know I am required to take medical leave from Monday 17th March - Friday 4th April. The Director for Georges River Network, Joanna French, is currently engaged with recruiting a replacement for this period. I will notify the community when this has been finalised.
