Head of Year 7
Please remind your child to charge their laptops and pack their wired headphones to ensure their NAPLAN testing runs smoothly. Being prepared will help them feel confident and ready to tackle the tests. Let's make this a successful and stress-free experience for everyone!
As we move into the second half of the term, now is a great time to check in on your child's organisation and study habits. Encouraging them to use their school diary to record homework, assessments, and important dates will help them stay on track during the upcoming assessment period. Simple habits like packing their bag the night before and having a dedicated study space at home can significantly reduce stress and keep them prepared for the school day. If your child finds it challenging to keep up with their workload or needs help managing their time, their Pastoral Mentor or subject teachers are always happy to assist.
This Term in science, students have been building on their knowledge of particles to learn about mixtures and how different types of mixtures are made. They will then investigate various ways to separate mixtures based on their properties. The end-of-term assessment for science will be an exam during the double lesson in Week 9.
For any concerns or queries, please contact our Head of Science, Kate Chapman, at kchapman@cns.catholic.edu.au.
We are thrilled to announce the recommencement of our popular Year 7 Maths Tutoring Program, provided by our Year 11 Maths Mentors! Over the next few weeks, a dedicated team of Year 11 students will start supporting Year 7 students looking for extra help with their maths studies.
Families with a child in Year 7 are invited to apply by contacting the Head of Mathematics, Mr Michael James, to express their interest in the program: mjames1@cns.catholic.edu.au
Please note that places are not guaranteed until Mr James confirms in writing.
In 2024, this program was received exceptionally well by both Year 7 and Year 11 students; we are excited to see the program flourish again in 2025!
Unisons are still available for collection from the library for students who were absent during the issuing process. They may come to the library at any time to collect their copy.
We would also like to kindly remind families with 2024 Year 12 Graduates to arrange for their copy to be collected from the Front Office.
The Cross Country Carnival will be held next Tuesday, 11 March. Please refer to the flyer for event timings.
This is a whole College event, and all students are expected to attend school as usual and participate. Each participant will earn points for their house.
If you cannot participate for medical reasons, please provide a note to your Pastoral Mentor. Students with medical conditions should bring necessary items (e.g. an asthma inhaler, jellybeans, etc). The College will have medical supplies and first aid available if required.
A reminder to please wear and bring the following:
Parents and carers are welcome to attend; please come along and support your child if you have the capacity to do so!
Young people today are exposed to curated social media highlights, fostering a comparison culture where self-worth depends on how they measure up to others.
For children and teens, this can cause unrealistic expectations, anxiety, and low self-worth. Parents must understand the impact of comparison culture on their child’s self-perception.
Families can help children build resilience and confidence to navigate these challenges.
