At St. Michael’s, our SMASH expectations guide the way our entire school community interacts and behaves daily. These expectations help create a supportive and respectful learning environment for all.
We actively acknowledge and celebrate students who demonstrate these behaviours through verbal and non-verbal praise. By providing timely and relevant intrinsic and extrinsic feedback, we ensure students understand and embody these expectations in meaningful ways.
Each week, our school focuses on a specific behaviour from the Matrix of Expected Behaviours to reinforce positive actions across our community. Here are the behaviours we have been focusing on this term and will continue to focus on for the remainder of Term 1:
MAKE A DIFFERENCE in classroom spaces by being a resilient learner
STAY SAFE in outdoor spaces by keeping your hands and feet to yourself
STAY SAFE in the toilets by using the water and toilet paper appropriately
HELP OTHERS in outdoor spaces by seeking teachers’ help if required
ACT RESPONSIBLY in classroom spaces by following our digital technologies user agreement
ACT RESPONSIBLY in transition spaces by making sure your bag and belongings are in the correct space
ACT RESPONSIBLY in outdoor spaces by following staff instructions
STAY SAFE in classroom spaces by walking
MAKE A DIFFERENCE in classroom spaces by including others
Together, we can continue fostering a positive, respectful, and responsible learning environment at St. Michael’s!
St Michael's is committed to promoting child safety and wellbeing in our school environment to safeguard our students against any type of abuse, neglect or harm.
