From the Principal

Tomorrow evening - Prep parent social night from 7pm

Dear St Michael’s School families,

A Prayer for Lent

Forgiving God,

As we journey through this sacred season of Lent,

we come before You with hearts longing for Your grace.

You are the source of all love and the giver of peace—

teach us to walk in the ways of compassion and reconciliation.

Lord, we confess that we have not always loved as You call us to love.

We have allowed pride, misunderstanding, and hurt to divide us

from our friends, neighbours, and those You have placed in our lives.

Forgive us, O God, and soften our hearts.

Fill us with Your Spirit, that we may seek healing where there is brokenness,

understanding where there is discord,

and forgiveness where there is pain.

Help us to extend the same mercy to others that You so freely give to us.

Teach us to see Your image in every person we meet—

to love without condition, to listen with humility,

and to speak words that build up rather than tear down.

May our actions reflect Your kindness,

and may our hearts be bridges of peace and reconciliation.

Lord Jesus, You reconciled us to the Father through Your sacrifice.

By Your example, give us the courage to mend what is broken

and to seek unity where there is division.

May this Lenten season be a time of renewal,

where Your love transforms our relationships and our hearts.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

YEAR THREE AND FIVE NAPLAN

Well done to all the students this week who took part in the NAPLAN testing with confidence and a positive mindset. It's hard to imagine eight to ten year olds sitting though exam-like scenarios that many of us didn't experience until Secondary School!! St Michael's students however, showed bravery and perseverance with the challenge and we are greatly proud of their efforts! Results for NAPLAN will not be available before Term Two and parents will be notified when they are ready.

ST MICHAEL'S VEGGIE GARDEN

We are so incredibly excited that planting has finally begun in our St Michael's Veggie garden. This week some of the Year Three/Four students planted some lettuce seedlings in one of the beds and we look forward to these growing and watching them over the next few weeks. Hopefully they will be ready for the upcoming holidays!!

OPEN DAYS

We held our first Open Day on 6th March and our next Open Day is coming up next Tuesday, 18th May. Quite a number of inquiries have come through the office and our website so we look forward to seeing our visitors as they come through. Our four school leaders have already taken a few tours with me and have shown great confidence speaking to new families. This is an excellent opportunity to practise and develop public speaking skills and also develop confidence.

YEAR FIVE/SIX ANNUAL CAMP

Our annual Year Five/Six camp is coming upon us very soon! This year the students will attend Sovereign Hill in Ballarat for their camp, staying in their accommodation for two nights, from Wednesday 7th May to Friday 9th May. This camp provides a structured three day program linked to the learning outcomes of our Australian History Inquiry Unit from the Victorian Curriculum. Details about camp have been sent through Operoo to all Year Five/Six families. Please make sure you give permission no later than Friday 4th April (final day of Term 1) and also complete any dietary and medical information.

On Monday 31st March, parents are invited to attend an online information session about Sovereign Hill camp from 6.30-7.30pm. A link will be sent to you in due course.

EASTER EGG RAFFLE

It's that time of year again and a wonderful display of baskets have been set up on display in the office for everyone to check out! More details about the raffle in our St Michael's PFA News section.

HARMONY DAY

This year Harmony Day is being celebrated on Friday 21st March. On this day we celebrate Australia's amazing cultural diversity. The focus for this day is on inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for all Australians, from the traditional custodians of the land to those who have come from many countries around the world. We are so diverse yet all the same in so many ways.

At St Michael's we will commence the day with a special Harmony prayer in all classrooms - all welcome to pray with us. The children will be asked to share something about their own culture with the peers in their class. Details about what you can help children to share about their culture will be coming out to parents soon. Start thinking about songs, recipes, dances, stories, rituals that you child may be able to share in their classroom.

Year Prep to Year Two swimming program begins on Monday 24th April - get your swimming gear ready!
