Principal's Message

Dear parents and carers,

The 2025 NAPLAN results are about to be released, and schools have been given early access.  I am delighted to share some visualisations with you. I understand that for some, NAPLAN might be a new or unfamiliar term, so I am providing some background information to help you understand its purpose and significance.

NAPLAN stands for the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy. It is an annual assessment undertaken by all Australian students in Years 3, 5, 7, and 9. The tests assess essential skills in:

  • Reading: Comprehending and interpreting various texts.
  • Writing: Constructing a coherent written response to a given stimulus (narrative or persuasive). Year 3 students complete the writing test on paper, while other year levels complete it online.
  • Conventions of Language: Demonstrating knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Numeracy: Applying mathematical concepts and skills.

It's important to remember that NAPLAN is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to understanding your child's overall learning and development. It complements the ongoing assessments and observations made by their teachers throughout the year. We encourage you to use these results as a starting point for discussions with your child's teacher about their strengths and any areas where they might benefit from further support.

We are very proud of our students' efforts in the 2025 NAPLAN assessments. Your ongoing partnership in your child's education is invaluable.
