LIBRARY NEWS

Week 10, Term 2

Welcome to the final newsletter for Term 2. It's hard to believe we're already halfway through the year. It's been a fantastic term in the library, filled with engaging activities and celebrating important national events.

This term, students across all year levels explored a wonderful selection of books commemorating and celebrating Anzac Day, Sorry Day, Reconciliation Week, Mother's Day, and Refugee Week. These stories offered valuable insights and fostered important discussions within our school community.

We were also excited to participate in the National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) again this year, joining over 2.2 million children across Australia and beyond! On Wednesday, May 21st, classes enjoyed "The Truck Cat" by Deborah Frenkel, beautifully illustrated by Danny Snell. Additionally, students from Kindergarten to Year 10 had the opportunity to share some of their favourite books when they read with buddies during Catholic Schools Week. It's been a busy term!

Thank You to Mrs. Monica Durmisevic

A special thank you goes out to Mrs. Monica Durmisevic, who has done an incredible job filling in for me during my leave. It was wonderful knowing the library was in such capable hands. Mrs. Durmisevic has enjoyed her time with the classes in the library, and I'm very grateful for her dedication and commitment.

Claim the Date - The Scholastic Book Fair is Coming!

Get ready, bookworms! Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is just around the corner, arriving in Week 2 of Term 3. Once again, the library will transform into our very own bookstore, offering a fantastic selection of books, stationery, and more. This is a wonderful opportunity for families to purchase great reads and support our library at the same time.

Students will have the opportunity to browse the selection in Week 1, with purchases starting from Monday, July 28th. We'll have EFTPOS available for easy payments, and the Book Fair will be open before school, during snack break, and after school until 4 pm.

Book an Adventure. Term 3 is Book Week Time!

Hold onto your bookmarks, because Term 3 is undoubtedly the most exciting time in the library calendar! It's all about celebrating the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA) 2025 Books of the Year and our highly anticipated Book Week, which takes place in Week 5. Premier's Reading Challenge Update

A huge congratulations to Violet and Kate McBean for once again completing the Premier's Reading Challenge. That's an incredible achievement! Don't forget, it's not too late to join the challenge yourself – the Premier's Reading Challenge doesn't close until Friday, September 19th, 2025. There's still plenty of time to get reading.

Reading Doesn't Have to Stop for the Holidays

Just because school's out for the holidays doesn't mean the reading has to stop. Students and families can continue to enjoy a vast collection of books over the break using SORA and Storybox Hub.

Here's how to log in and keep reading:

SORA: You can access SORA by downloading the SORA app or visiting the website online. Use your school login details (student ID and password). Please note that you are not looking for Holy Trinity School - you need to search for the ACEN (Australian Catholic Education Network). Instructions can be found here.

Storybox Hub can be accessed here, and use the following login information. Username: htsinverell, Password: Inverell2360

It's been another great term in the library, and I've loved seeing all the enthusiasm for reading and learning. I look forward to seeing everyone again in Term 3, and I hope you have a relaxing and safe holiday break.

Happy reading,

Mrs Toni Fraser
