Exciting Achievement for Year 11 Visual Arts Students

We are thrilled to share that two of our talented Year 11 Visual Arts students, Kayla and Mack (CG11), have been selected to participate in the prestigious HSC Intensive Studio Practice at the National Art School. Kayla will specialise in Printmaking, while Mack has been chosen for Painting.

This is a significant honour, especially given the exceptionally high calibre of applicants this year, as noted by the Education Officer in her official communication. Their selection is a true testament to their creativity, dedication, and artistic potential.

Supported by the NSW Education Standards Authority, the HSC Intensive Studio Practice has been offered since 2000 and is available to Year 11 students from both government and non-government schools across New South Wales.

This program is an immersive, hands-on experience. Students work in professional art studios under the guidance of experienced, practicing artists. It’s an exceptional chance to develop their technical skills, expand their creative portfolios, and engage with other passionate Visual Arts students from around the state.

Participants can choose to specialise in one of seven disciplines: Painting, Drawing, Life Drawing, Black and White Photography, Digital Photography, Ceramics, or Sculpture.

Please join us in congratulating Kayla and Mack on this incredible achievement!

Balloon Pop of the day – Photo competition Year 9 Photography and Digital Media

Year 9 had a fantastic collaborative lesson outdoors with both Ms. Wenman and Mrs. Tierney. Their challenge was to set their cameras to a fast shutter speed and capture the precise moment a water balloon popped, freezing the action mid-pop. The results were truly impressive!

The second photo competition of the year for Year 9 focused on balloon pops. The winner was Lucy (C9), whose creative and clever Photoshop manipulation transformed her balloon pop into what looked like a cowboy hat — a clear standout.

First Place: Lucy (C9)

Congratulations also to:

Second Place: William (G9)

Third Place: Scarlet (C9)

Well done to all the students for their creativity and skill!
