Term 2 was packed with exciting learning experiences and hands-on opportunities for our students.

A clear highlight was the Melbourne Doxa Camp in Week 7. Students and staff enjoyed three action-packed days exploring the city, visiting key attractions, and participating in a variety of engaging activities. Everyone returned home tired but grateful for the long weekend to rest and recharge.

Earlier in the term, students took part in the Fit 2 Drive program, where they learned practical strategies for staying safe on the roads. These important messages were further reinforced during our visit to Road to Zero while on camp, deepening students’ understanding of road safety and personal responsibility.

Our barista training was another highlight, with Nathan and James from Madem Espresso visiting to share their coffee expertise. Students had the chance to build their skills and confidence behind the machine—learning what it takes to make a great coffee.

VPC Cafe

The VPC Café has enjoyed a highly successful first half of the year, with students actively engaged in all areas of its operation. As part of their learning, students have taken on key responsibilities including menu planning, food preparation, sales, and customer service.

Through this hands-on experience, students have developed important skills in teamwork, communication, budgeting, and hospitality. Their efforts have contributed to the café serving over 500 customers and generating more than $6,000 in sales to date.

The VPC Café continues to be a valuable and engaging component of the VPC program, offering students real-world opportunities to apply their learning in a practical setting.
