In the classroom

Foundation - Grade 1

This fortnight the Foundation and Grade ones have continued their learning of new sounds. The Foundations have started to write decodable phrases using their sounds knowledge and introduction to tricky words. The grade ones have looked at what we add to a word to make it plural. During Numeracy the Foundations have been building numbers on a ten frame and learning about the concept of 3 and 2 make 5. The grade ones have been investigating length, mass and capacity using lots of hands-on options (paper rulers, scales and measuring tools). Throughout Religious Education the class have been looking at what makes them unique and special in Gods eyes. During our kitchen session this week the children became a chef for the day.

Grade 1 / 2

The grade 1/2 students have started their sacramental unit 'What is Baptism' we have been talking about how we belong to our families and our connection to different groups in the community.

Grade 3/4 Highlights

RECONCILIATION MASS

On Reconciliation Mass Tuesday I was in the choir. It was so fun. I might be able to teach

Mrs Brooks how to do the actions for the song Send Us Out. We went up for a blessing that is a sign that we are a part of God's life.  Arloh V.

WINTER SPORT

On Fridays all the seniors go and play netball & footy.

Before we go to play, we do the roll to make sure everyone is here. When we warm up we do Hi-knees, bum kicks and the grapevine. Today we are playing St Joe's Cobram, everyone gets a touch.   Ava

Today we are playing school footy against St. Joe's Cobram. St. Francis has two more games including today. We haven't had much practice, but I think we have a good shot at winning against St. Joe's. Today is a home game but next week it will be away at the Numurkah PS.

When we play CAGS on June 27th, I think we are playing soccer instead of footy.    Bodhi

Winter school sport is a fun term. I am going to tell you how it works. The 4/5/6 seniors from every local school participates in it. It can be a home or an away game for one whole term every Friday. The seniors play home or away and the games you play are netball or football.   Harper B.

LEARNING JOINING WRITING

Joining writing was very easy for me because I am American and they do joining writing.

Luckily, I have caught up with the other students. I can't wait to be amazing at joining writing and I know I am not far from being amazing at joining writing. I'm on lesson 23 practicing the letter o with some other letters with o. I am about halfway through the booklet.    Blaire

THE WEATHER

The weather has been really foggy lately.  It has been really cold and the other week there was a bunch of ice because the water turned into ice. It was quite hard to see and the grass was frosty.  The ice looked like snow, and our breath turned into fog or steam.    Daniel

The Weather

The weather forecast today is basically 2 degrees Celsius with a high of 14, expected.

In Nathalia, Victoria, it is expected the same.

Maybe rain, even. There is already fog, expected all day like yesterday.

It's mostly fog, not a cloud (or sun) in the sky.

And that's the weather for today!  Maddie

The 13th of June is very cold. You can't see the streets. Nobody wants to get out of bed including me! It's lucky I didn’t have to ride to school today, I got a ride from my mum and I was not late. Enough about me and let's get back on track! All the trees have no leaves on them. It's crazy cold. It's hard to see anything.  Meabh

DOWNBALL

This year we got new  down ball courts. We have a six square. Most of the time me and my friends play down ball we have two four squares. In six square we have three dungeons, jack is next after dungeon. Sometimes we have spare down balls in the office. You have to sign in to take a down ball and they have numbers on them. So, you write the number on the piece of paper you write your name on it you tick it. When you're done you tick it off when you return it. I LOVE DOWN BALL!   Maddie Daniel

Grade 4/5

The 4/5 class have been learning and reflecting on how we can live spirit-filled lives. They have been exploring their own qualities, actions and  characteristics with the Fruits of the Spirit.

Grade 6

This week in Literacy, our Grade 6’s have continued reading our novel The Silver Donkey having only four more chapters to go. Students have been developing their own Fables, which have included many interesting characters and problems. Students will start working towards developing their problem paragraph next.

In Numeracy, students have continued working through the Operations unit. Students now have the ability to solve equations that include all four operations (Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and have been using their DIY Maths Resources to assist them. This week, we are looking at solving order of operations using calculators!
