Year 5
Maths
We’re finishing off with two exciting topics in Maths. Transforming Shapes and Time. In Shape, students will explore how to translate (slide), flip, and rotate shapes, and how these transformations appear in patterns and designs. In Time, we’re focusing on converting between 12- and 24-hour time and reading and interpreting timetables. These will be our final topics before we begin consolidating all the amazing learning we've done throughout the term. It’s a great opportunity for students to revise, reflect, and build confidence across all areas.
Literacy
We’ve really enjoyed learning about Civics and Citizenship and discovering more about Australia. Students have explored key topics such as democracy, how Australia became a federation in 1901, our first Prime Minister, the Constitution and referendums, and the three levels of government. Over the next two weeks, we’ll continue to build on this knowledge by looking into elections, migration, and refugees.
Well done to all of our amazing 5/6 students that have been chosen to be apart of Sacred Hearts Production, Seusical!
Year 6
Maths
To finish off the remainder of Term Two, the Year 6 students have been exploring number patterns. They have identified and described patterns in geometric designs, created their own patterns, and developed algorithms to generate number sets. Students also used digital tools to both identify and create number patterns, allowing them to experiment with more complex sequences. By comparing number sets generated by different algorithms, they deepened their understanding of how patterns work.
Canberra Camp
Our Year 6 students are excited to be heading off to Canberra on Monday morning! This is a fantastic opportunity for them to deepen their understanding of Australian politics and experience some of the incredible places Canberra has to offer. From Parliament House and The Royal Mint to the Australian Institute of Sport, the Australian War Memorial, Questacon, and more. It’s sure to be a memorable and enriching adventure for our year 6 students and teachers.
We are very grateful to Miss Bulte, Miss Newey, Mr Jaynes, Ms Moloney, and Lola for attending the Canberra Camp with our Year 6 students. We wouldn't be able to provide these amazing experiences without the dedication of the teachers who generously give their time.
Grandparents Day
Grandparents Day is such a special time in our school calendar, and we feel so lucky to have had so many wonderful grandparents and special friends join us at Sacred Heart. Our students are incredibly fortunate to be surrounded by such love, wisdom, and support. We hope you enjoyed spending time together, sharing stories, and making memories that will be treasured for years to come.
Sex Education
We were so grateful to Kath for coming in to teach our students about our amazing bodies and the incredible changes that occur from birth through to puberty.
She shared insightful information and provided our Year 5 and 6 students with vital knowledge about the names of body parts and how their bodies will change as they grow into adults. Please ask your child wht they learn during this program.
Lightening Premiership
What an amazing achievement from our football, netball and soccer teams during the lightening premiership. What a fantastic way to finish off our term 2 interschool sports.
