The External Exam block runs from Monday 23 October to Tuesday 14 November 2023.
Students and parents have all been emailed the schedules for Weeks 1-3. Please check your junk email if you have not received this.
The External Exam block schedule, as well as the required equipment lists, are available on the Marist portal (via this link for parents and via this link for students), and on the QCAA website.
Over the coming weeks, all year 11 students (ATAR and non-ATAR) will have the opportunity to meet with a member of the Academic Care team, or College Leadership, to discuss their results across Units 1 and 2. They will also be provided with an ATAR estimation during this meeting if they are ATAR eligible.
Parents are invited to attend if they wish.
A schedule for booking, along with instructions, will be emailed to all students this week. Please keep an eye out for this email. It will be sent to both parents and students.
Year 7-11 Assessment schedules have been released. Please ensure that you take the time to read these so that you are aware of what is due for your son.
Your son will also have access to his assessment via Student Café. He will be able to access task sheets and assessment rubrics.
Earlier this week we met with the newly elected Academic Captains who will commence Year 7 Tutoring this week. Year 7 boys are welcome to attend a free tutoring afternoon on Wednesdays between 3:15pm-4:15pm with our senior students. These will take place in room 105 and will run between Weeks 4-7 of this term, leading up to the exam block. All Year 7 boys are welcome to attend.
On Thursday afternoon, a group of Year 8 students worked on improving their narrative writing skills, focusing particularly on how to plan a successful story. Given a NAPLAN writing prompt, students brainstormed a story idea by drawing (literally) the main complication and conclusion. To add detail to their planning, they also considered which description of the five senses could be added where in their story for maximum pay-off for their reader as well as character mapping their main protagonists. All in all, a very productive and fun afternoon!
The boys will reconvene in Week 5 to take their planning and practice writing it up into a successful story.
Year 12 students and parents/carers were emailed this week regarding how to access their final subject results and SEP (including QCE and relevant certificates). This information has come directly from the QCAA.
All Year 12 students should be on myQCE – if not, help for registration can be found here: https://myqce.qcaa.qld.edu.au/home/help/student-portal-faqs We would suggest this be sorted as soon as possible to make sure results and SEPs can be accessed smoothly from Friday 15 December.
