Year Four Team News

with Rebecca, Katie & Matt

Hello Year Four families,

Fortnightly Curriculum Focus

Literacy: This fortnight in Reading, the students have been revising a number of reading comprehension skills. They have been identifying the main idea a passage, analysing facts and opinions, making inferences and drawing conclusions, and using context clues for vocabulary.

Writing this fortnight has seen the students finishing their information texts and publishing them as brochures. They have also begun to explore response writing.

Numeracy: This fortnight, the Grade Fours worked on volume and capacity. The students had a blast and got a little wet experimenting with various containers and materials. Students have also begun exploring mass.

Inquiry:  This fortnight, the students learned more about the natural landmarks, the Great Barrier Reef and the Amazon Rainforest and how we can best protect them. Students also explored different climates around the world, and how they affect people, animals and landscapes.
