2024 Extra Classes

As we look ahead to 2024, we're excited to share some important updates about our school's class arrangements. In the upcoming year, we are planning to have a fourth Year Six class, three Year Five classes, and two Year Four classes. These adjustments will allow us to provide the best learning experience for our students.

To help everyone prepare for this transition, we have scheduled an Orientation Day on Friday, November 3rd. This day is a significant event, both for new students and our current ones. It's an opportunity for your child to experience a sneak peek of their 2024 year group as opposed to class group.

On Orientation Day, students will be placed in groups randomly within their 2024 year level. This experience helps them get a feel for the dynamics and make new friends as they start this exciting journey. We believe it's essential to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone.

For Year Six students, this day will be even more special. They will spend the morning in the Senior School, participating in engaging Maths and English classes. It's a fantastic chance for them to get a taste of the opportunities that lie ahead.

We understand that transitions can be a mix of excitement and uncertainty for both students and their families. Moving from one year level to the next brings new learning experiences and growth opportunities. Adjusting to a new routine, interacting with different staff members, taking on more responsibilities, and forming new friendships while maintaining old ones are all part of this journey.

It's incredible to witness the changes our children undergo during the summer holidays. They grow and mature, becoming more prepared for the adventures that await them in the new school year. We're here to support and guide them every step of the way.

Class lists for Years Five and Six will be formed in the final few weeks of school with preparation for this commencing shortly. The process of constructing class lists includes significant professional discussion and planning between staff members to create and determine class lists that have a balance of academic ability, are close to even in number, social, emotional and behavioural needs of students, which students work well together and those who don’t.

Fair and reasonable requests considered are:

  • Keeping or separating twins
  • Insight into relationship issues a child may have with another child of that same year level. If you have a valid request, please book a time to meet with me through Ella Spencer.

The following are rarely valid requests and generally will not be considered:

  • Requests for a particular teacher
  • Requests for a child to be in a class with a particular student. At times, we get conflicting requests where a parent would like their child to be in the same class as a particular student and the other child’s parent has requested that the two children be separated. There are also occasions where parent requests conflict with who the child has requested, they would like to be in class with.

I want to reassure you that our priority is to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that benefits all students. We trust that our professional and thoughtful approach to forming class lists will contribute to a successful and enriching educational experience for your child in the coming year.
