Italian Exchange

Information Session

Eliza Knapman and Melissa Rosso would like to take the opportunity to invite parents and students to an Italian exchange information session. This program is run by the Western Australian Association of Teachers of Italian (WAATI) in conjunction with their Italian exchange partner Intercultural AFS. The program has been running for more than 40 years across all sectors of education in WA.

Prior to the onset of Covid, in WA and the ACT between 50-60 Italian students were spending two months here in Australia from the end of June until the end of August. From November to January, between 40-50 students from WA and the ACT were spending their summer in Italy being immersed in the language and culture. The opportunity to live an authentic Italian experience while being immersed in the language is an unforgettable experience. The majority of students return with much improved fluency in the language and an in-depth knowledge of Italian culture.

At the end of 2022, WAATI took a very small Renaissance group of students to Italy on exchange and this year in WA we hosted 29 students and 33 students from WA and the ACT will be going to Italy for this life-changing experience at the end of week 7.

Please join us on Monday 6th November at 6pm in the staff lounge to hear about the opportunity to first host an exchange student then go to Italy on exchange. You will hear all about this amazing opportunity and have the opportunity to ask questions.

Private exchanges through business can cost as much as $9,000 for a two month program; however, due to the voluntary nature of WAATI, we can keep this cost down to the bare minimum.
