Anchorage House News

Dear Parents and Carers of our Anchorage boys

It's been an exciting and eventful term here in the Anchorage House. Our students in Years Seven to Nine have been making the most of their time, exploring new interests, and building lasting memories.

The Recreational Shed:  A Hub of Creativity

The newly refurbished recreational shed has quickly become a hub for creativity and innovation. Our boarders have embraced their inner entrepreneurs' skills from creative bike ramps appearing in the shed after school to running a small business on Friday Fun night inviting other houses to their rec shed to purchase a drink or snack.  It's truly inspiring to witness their resourcefulness and the fantastic ideas they come up with.

Riding the Waves: Surfing Adventures

The thrill of surfing has captured the hearts of many of our boarders. They've been hitting the waves, learning to ride the surf, and building confidence in the water. Surfing not only provides an exhilarating experience but also encourages teamwork and perseverance.

Airborne Adventures: Building Bike Jumps

For the daredevils among us, the construction of a small jump for bikes has been a highlight. The boarders have been busy designing and creating their own jumps, perfecting their biking skills, and having a blast in the process. It's a reminder that even small-scale engineering projects can lead to big excitement. This is, as always, vetted by Mr Keatch before launching into it.

On the Field: Soccer Enthusiasts

Soccer is a unifying force in our boarding community. Friendly matches and skill-building sessions have been a regular part of our daily life. It's been wonderful to see the boarders' passion for the sport grow, as they encourage and inspire each other.

Scoring Big: Shooting Hoops

The basketball hoop in our recreational area is a favourite pastime for many. Boarders have been practicing their shots, engaging in friendly competitions, and fostering a sense of camaraderie through the sport. It's evident that our boarders are passionate about perfecting their skills and having fun while doing so.

Buddy:  A Furry Friend to Some

Our four-legged addition to the Anchorage House, Buddy, is a source of joy and companionship to some of our boarding students. It is an added competition in the house as Buddy is very picky in who he approaches or shows his unconditional love to.

In addition to these exciting activities, our students are here to learn and improve their academics, so they are provided time each evening to focus on their studies and personal growth. The combination of extracurricular adventures and academic pursuits provides them with a well-rounded and enriching experience at Great Southern Grammar.

We are immensely proud of the creativity, resilience, and camaraderie displayed by our boarders. Their energy and enthusiasm continue to light up our boarding community. We look forward to the remaining weeks of the term and the many more adventures and achievements to come.

Birthdays

Happy birthday to Matt Cant who turned 14 earlier in the term.

As always, I thank you for your continued support and interactions when visiting Anchorage. If you have any questions or if there's anything specific you'd like to know about your child's experiences, please don't hesitate to reach out.
