From the Head of Boarding

Dear Boarding Parents and Carers

As our school year draws to a close at Great Southern Grammar, we find ourselves at a time of bittersweet farewells and exciting transitions for our Year Twelve boarders. It has been an incredible journey, and we would like to take a moment to reflect on their time with us.

Farewell to Year Twelve

Our Year Twelve boarders have reached the final stretch of their journey at our school, and we couldn't be prouder of the remarkable individuals they have become. Over the years, they have formed lasting friendships, engaged in countless academic and cocurricular activities, and contributed significantly to our close-knit boarding community.

As they prepare to leave Boarding, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for their positive impact they've had on our school. We wish them the best in their exams. A special thank you to Ava Smith and Darcy Barrett for their contributions as our Boarding Captains and in the way they have led and supported our boarding community this year.

Transition to New House

Meanwhile, our Year Nine boarders are in the midst of an exciting transition. They will soon move into the senior boarding houses of Eclipse and Breaksea Houses, which marks a significant step in their educational journey. This transition provides an opportunity for them to develop their rite of passage as they grow and build stronger connections and continue to thrive in our supportive boarding community.

Transition to New Year Levels

As part of our transition in year groups moving up, there is excitement around the houses as our boarders know they are moving up a year group before the end of the year. The one thing they all say is how this increases their tech time!

We would like to acknowledge our dedicated Heads of Boarding Houses and their team of Boarding Supervisors and staff who work tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition and a nurturing environment for our boarders. We deeply appreciate your commitment to their well-being.

Looking Ahead

In these final weeks of the school year, we encourage all boarders to make the most of their remaining time with their peers, engage in their studies and cherish the memories they have created together.

We also remind our Year Twelve boarders that they will forever be part of our school's extended family. As they step into the world beyond our school, we hope they carry the values of integrity, respect, compassion, commitment and the experiences they have gained here with them.

Finally, a heartfelt thanks to the parents who are finishing up at Great Southern Grammar Boarding. I am grateful for the trust and faith you have put into our boarding system. It's now time for us to step back as you continue to guide them through their next phase in life.
