Regional Athletics

Two of our year 5 students represented SJV at the Eastern Metropolitan Regional Athletics finals last week.  Caris and Dina had qualified for this event by finishing top 2 in the Division Athletics event held recently.

Caris qualified and participated in 2 events at Regionals.  With another huge throw of 25.12m, Caris won the Silver medal in Discus- meaning she now goes on to represent SJV at the Victorian State Athletics Championships to be held on November 1st.     In the 100m metres, Caris performed brilliantly and finished 5th in her heat.  Another excellent result in the hot conditions.  These were outstanding and rare achievements, and we send Caris our congratulations and best of luck at States from the SJV community.

Dina qualified for Regionals by finishing 2nd in the Triple Jump at Division.  At Regionals, Dina jumped 7.34m, finishing in 5th place overall.  Another exceptional result considering the high standard of competition she was facing.  Everyone at SJV are so very proud of your achievements this year in Athletics.

The staff and students at St John Vianney's are so proud of these achievements this year for both girls - what they have accomplished doesn't happen very often, and their efforts and performances should be celebrated!
