 Dear Families,

This Friday is World Teachers Day. We congratulate all of our educators for their dedication and commitment to our students & SJV community.

Indonesian Day

Salamat Pagi, Congratulations to everyone for participating so well in our Indonesian Day today!  Our students immersed themselves in various activities to celebrate the Indonesian Culture. So lovely to see so many families at  our morning tea this morning and at the Performance by our 1-2 students.  Thank you to our brilliant and passionate teacher Pak Kris and to our most enthusiastic Year 5-6 students who led the day and decorated our school to bring great festivity!

Fete

Congratulations to the Parish Committee who organised the fete on Saturday.  Overall blessed with great weather, the fete was well attended by many students and families, who all enjoyed the various stalls and rides.  Thank you to all the stall holders for their generous involvement.

After School

Please remind your children that if they wish to play on the oval or playground after school they must be with their own parent. We love to see families connect and the gates stay open till 3.30pm.

2024 School Organisational Structures and Student Placements

I invite you all to read very carefully the arrangements for 2024 classes and the process you need to follow should you have a request for student placement in 2024. I reiterate please DO NOT request a teacher as we have not finalised staffing and the teacher you request may change  classes/ levels or may in fact change employment  in 2024.

Please read  Student Placement School Organisational Structure 2024 further in the newsletter.

School Advisory Council

Do you wish to make a difference! I am currently seeking  expressions of interest from parents in being a part of the School Advisory Council.  The School Advisory Council  comprises the Principal,  Deputy Principal,  a small number of Parent representatives and the Parish Priest.

The Council meets  four - six times a year, usually once and perhaps twice a term.  We usually meet on a Tuesday at 5:15pm for about 1 hour - 90 minutes. The meetings next year will be  held online, or at school in person.

The School Advisory Council  discusses  school operations. Reports are given by the school and by the Parish. On occasions  curriculum issues will be presented. The Council give their views and advises the Principal on important matters and is a support to the Principal and Leadership of the school in their decision making process. Matters that are discussed may  include:

  • Enrolments and Marketing
  • Family partnerships/ Surveys
  • Child Safety
  • Catholic Identity
  • MACS and school Policy
  • Traffic Management
  • School resources/ Capital planning/ Improvements in the school

These are just some of the ways a School Advisory Council can give advice to the Principal and Leadership in the school – there are many other areas as well.

If you are interested in being part of a 2024  School Advisory Council I ask that you  email me as to your interest and why you would be a good representative for our community.   Due date  Wednesday November 8th.

 Concert Video

The videographer is making the final touches to the concert video. Once we have reviewed the recording and made any final changes it will be available for families. We are hoping all will be finalised over the next fortnight. We will let you know how to purchase and access the video soon. The cost of the video is still to be confirmed.
