P&F NEWS...

FATHER'S DAY

Term 3 has been a fun-filled busy term with the P & F running our own events as well as supporting school events. Thank you to all those that continue to support our events by volunteering their time.

Father’s Day Event - Sept 5

What a wonderful turnout to our Father’s Day event with many dads, grandfathers and special people attending! The Daily Drip barista kept the hot drinks going for the adults and we also had yummy baked treats from Publique (Preston Market).

Thank you Angela for organising the event and to Terese, Kathryn and Delia for helping out.

This year we offered our students a cup (or two) of Milo together with some assorted bickies! Who can guess which was everyone’s favourite? Yep… the Chocolate Ripple biscuit. Special thanks to Kathryn who mixed up all the litres of Milo for us.

The Father’s Day Stall was a success as we had many different items for the children to choose from. Thank you to the following parents who helped out by setting up, selling and packing up. Thank you; Tien, Delia, Kathryn, Vicky, Randa, Emma, Sonia and Simone! I love the stalls, it gives the students an opportunity to shop and use money. This year I had most of the Prep/Ones tell me how much they had spent before I had even added it up myself!

Rossmoyne Rummage- Sunday October 19

St Mary’s scarecrow festival entry for 2025

The P&F are running a competition to name our scarecrows for this year’s scarecrow festival.

Each class needs to enter 2 names – one for each scarecrow. It needs to be a class effort - so talk to your classmates and agree on the best names to submit.

Entries will be collected on Wednesday after lunch. The Rossmoyne Rummage committee will decide what the winning names are. The winner will be announced in the end of term newsletter.

If your class is the winning entry, you will win a class pizza party next term!

St Mary’s scarecrow festival VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

We are now calling out to ALL the families in our school community to sign up for an allocated time for the Rossmoyne Rummage event to be held on Sunday 19 October 2025.

As you all know, this year we will be holding a Cake Bake Sale, a Book & Toy Stall and a Sausage Sizzle. This is a fantastic community event for our school as well as it enables us to show the public our school spirit and helps us fundraise for items on student and teacher wish lists.

It would be wonderful if you could all sign up for a timeslot together with a friend if you like as there are multiple spots available. Please note, all sign ups are for an adult, we would love the children to attend under parent supervision. Please review the timeslots available and SIGN UP!

St Mary’s scarecrow festival entry for 2025

This year we are creating an underwater habitat using re-cycled, re-purposed and re-used materials. Our scarecrows will be dressed to suit their new habitat – we are making them into mermaids. We will try to use only re-cycled materials like plastics (bottles, bags, tablecloths, etc), pool noodles, scrap fabric, tin foil and other stuff found in hard rubbish. Here are some inspirational photos to help paint the picture…

How can you help?

  • Donate materials – bring in your clean plastics, used pool noodles, tin foil, ribbons, … anything you think could be made into an underwater oasis. Collection tubs are in the hall.
  • Come and build something – Monday lunchtime in the hall we will have materials and resources available. Come and create a sea creature or plant life. Or help create our mermaid costumes.

End of Term Market & Second-hand uniform stall

Postponed to October 9th, hosted by the Junior school students and families. The School will contact the year levels who will participate.

Term 4- Parent Night Out

We have had a great start to the ticket sales for our upcoming social event. Social events are a fun way to have a chat with other parents and get to know each other without the children around. Once the children are settled and the 5/6 campers have eaten and showered (lol), then head on down to Bar Mexico for a fun evening.
