WELLBEING

National child protection week  7-13 September

National Child Protection Week is a timely reminder of the important role we all play in keeping children and young people safe. At St Mary’s this term, students from Prep to Grade 6 have been focusing on “Safety” in their wellbeing sessions. Together, they have explored what it feels like to be safe and unsafe, and identified trusted people they can turn to when they need help.

Students have also learned about consent—understanding that they have the right to say “yes” or “no” to things that affect them, and that their voice matters. These conversations help empower our students to make safe choices, respect themselves and others, and know that they will always be supported.

R U OK? DAY - 11 SEPETEMBER

On Thursday, our students took part in meaningful class activities for R U OK? Day, focusing on the importance of checking in with others and starting supportive conversations with friends and family. At recess and lunchtime, the SRC helped bring the day to life by running fun and thoughtful activities in the yard, including a treasure hunt, mindful colouring, and an affirmation station.
