Wellbeing

Dear Families,

As Term 3 comes to a close, I’d love to share some of the wonderful things we’ve been learning in the wellbeing space. It’s been busy and positive term, full of creativity and growing stronger in our emotions and friendships.

Term 3 Highlights:

Creativity, Kindness & Clubhouse

Through drawing comics, painting superhero logos, and other creative projects, students practised sharing, kindness, and teamwork. Creative activities gave them a fun way to learn important life skills while also building confidence.

This term, the Clubhouse program has been another highlight. Clubhouse is a space where students come together in small groups to connect, play games, and build social skills in a safe and relaxed environment. It’s been great to see friendships grow and students supporting each other in positive ways.

Learning About Feelings

This term students learned more about emotions. We discovered that instead of pushing tricky feelings away, it helps to notice them and use calming strategies. Some students created “emotion characters,” drew “anger thermometers,” and imagined their own “happy places” to practise feeling calm.

Big or Small Problems?

We explored how to tell the difference between a big problem and a small problem. Students also played games about what’s fair or unfair, and thought of ways to solve problems instead of staying upset. These activities help children pause, think, and make better choices.

Holiday Activities to Try at Home

Some simple and fun activities that your child can do at home to keep building creativity, confidence, and connection with family.

Build a Family Obstacle Course: Use pillows, chairs, or outdoor items to design a fun course. Kids practise problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience as they navigate challenges.

Create a Comic Strip: Encourage your child to make up their own superhero or funny story and draw it as a comic. Boosts imagination and helps with sequencing and storytelling skills.

DIY Science Experiments: Simple activities like making a volcano with baking soda and vinegar or growing crystals in salt water can spark curiosity while encouraging patience and observation.

Family Talent Show: Each family member can prepare a “talent” (a song, joke, dance, magic trick, or even a Lego build) and perform. Builds confidence and celebrates individuality.

Puzzle & Board Game Marathon: Work on a jigsaw puzzle or play different board games. These activities encourage turn-taking, problem-solving, and family bonding.
