These photos were taken on Monday and yes it was time for a blast from the past with games of elastics before school started. Our Monday Madness began as a way to welcome students back to school after the challenges of COVID, but it has quickly grown into a much-loved tradition that sets a positive tone for the week ahead. What started as a re-connection activity has become a vibrant part of school life, where students come together to build relationships, share energy, and have fun.
It’s more than just a lively start to the week – Monday Madness reflects and strengthens our culture and is one way we walk our talk with our school values of grit, respect, effort, adventure, and teamwork. By beginning each week with a smile, laughter, energy, and connection, we continue to grow a school community where everyone feels part of something special. A special shout out to all our parents who got involved this week as well!
You will see a new addition to our school…. our very own community library. This was an initiative of one of our Year 5 & 6 Action Teams in 2024 and we have finally finished the project off. Thank you to Lynsey Barrett for supporting our students to make this happen. Now we just need to add some books and if you put a book in - you can take a book out. Hopefully this will create another way for our students and families to share their love of reading and enjoy a good book!
The countdown is also on to the Victorian State School Spectacular! This week our students will attend two full day dress rehearsals before two big shows this Saturday at Hisense Arena. Thank you to Ashley Dunne for all the organisation and rehearsing and to Ros Mackie, Ruby Cuce, Ilda Araujo and to our parent helpers for attending.
Good luck to everyone involved and as the saying goes “Break a leg!” The show is also broadcast on free to air television later in the year, so keep your eye out for that as it is great to see the amazing talent of students from all our State schools.
A very special shout out to all our Year 5 & 6 students for the way they represented our school during the walking excursion to Greensborough Plaza. This was part of our Earn & Learn program that teaches students valuable and real life financial and maths skills. All our students have developed a business plan and then purchased what they needed with a specific budget of $20 per student.
We are also pleased to share some of the positive feedback we received from members of the public who saw us at the Plaza today:
Today we observed your Greenhills students at Greensborough Plaza with their teachers.
We would like to let you know that they conducted themselves very nicely and orderly throughout the centre and looked like they were having a lovely day.
Kindest Regards,
Local residents
Susie and Jan
The next very exciting step is Market Day on Tuesday 16th September. This is where all our Prep - Year 4 students will be able to convert their gazillions into “Earn and Learn” dollars which they can use to purchase items and experiences from all the different businesses that will be set up.
The program also continues into Term 4 as Market Day No. 2 will be part of our whole school mini fair fundraiser on Friday 24th October. More news about this will be sent out early next term.
A big thank you to Ros Mackie and the Year 5 & 6 team for organising the excursion and the whole program itself. Special mention to our army of parent and carer volunteers for helping on the day as well. We couldn’t have done it without you!
Don’t forget that our Parent/Caregiver/Guardian survey closes at the end of this term. At time of writing this, we have had 44 families complete the survey. The link has been sent out again to all families today.
