PE & Health

Hi & welcome to the final PE newsletter for the term! This term has been great with some new sports learnt, lots of fun had and even a little bit of yoga thrown in for good measure.
Term 3 Health sessions:
The Preps-3s have been learning about Healthy Eating and Healthy Lifestyles. In healthy eating, we talked about the five food groups, the importance of drinking lots of water and how a little bit of junk food is ok. With healthy lifestyles, we talked about the importance of getting outside, getting lots of sleep, making new friendships and being able to talk about our feelings with those people closest to us. It was a great topic!
The 4-6s learnt about Positive Body Image and the importance of loving what our bodies can do and being grateful for that. We also talked about the importance of respecting other people by not body shaming, talking kindly and not putting any judgements on to others.
The Preps had fun learning Indoor Hockey and all the rules and new skills that come with it. I was very impressed with the enthusiasm and excitement all the Preps showed during this unit, particularly how they all understood the importance of safety and being sensible with the equipment.
Years 1-6 all took part in Field Hockey. This sport was embraced very quickly by most students who loved using the equipment, particularly wearing the shin guards which I think made them all feel like semi-professionals.
Next term in Prep we will be moving on to basketball with the rest of the school playing the awesome game of Gaelic Football, followed by Ultimate Frisbee. Fingers crossed we get loads of great weather so we can be outside every single session.
In Health, all classes will be looking at ‘Personal & Cultural Strengths’.
Have a great break,
Meagan
