Congratulations Mikail | Year 9 City School | Meet the Team

On Tuesday 2nd September, Year 9 student Mikail was awarded the Kingston Youth of the Year award.
Mikail has been doing fabulous work in raising awareness of inclusive practices and fundraising for the Royal Children's Hospital. So far, he has raised $7000 by organising and running BBQs.
Fantastic effort Mikail!

Kala Petronijevic was awarded third prize in the 2025 Parliament Prize competition for her incredible video calling for more accessibility in blind and low vision tennis.
Out of 1,463 applicants applying from 250 schools across Victoria, Kala stood out as a strong entry advocating for meaningful change. We congratulate Kala on her phenomenal achievement and can't wait to see what she does next.
Brilliant initiative Kala!

Year 9 students participated in a City School program which allowed them to develop and apply their understanding in each of the units in the ConnectProgram. Their adventures into the Melbourne CBD provided a practical and real world opportunity to explore their learning, and develop their independent growth.
"City School was a fun, engaging activity that spanned a week, from the 8th to the 12th of September. All five days were filled with eventful activities, but there was also plenty of free time each day. Monday started with all of the Year Nines meeting up at Cheltenham Station and catching the 8:18am train to the city together. We met up at Fed Square, and split up into our activities. The activities were the Big Issue, Immigration Museum, Amazing Race, Botanical Gardens, MCG, Science Gallery, KHT Walk, ACMI, and my personal favourites, the Old Melbourne Gaol and ArtVo. I took so many photos in ArtVo, and the history beyond the jail is extremely interesting. There were a few creepy instances in the jail however - people got dizzy when they went inside the building, perfect photos ended up blurry or dark, and so on. It was a very interesting experience. And of course, there was everyone's favourite - lunch! 7 Eleven got very busy with school students buying slushies or chocolate. Overall, it was tiring, but so worth it! I had so much fun, and I'm sure everyone else did as well."

On Wednesday 15th October, the Year 10 Mini Business students held the annual 'Market Day'. With much anticipation and excitement, a range of stalls were set up and ready to sell their products. There were cookies, milkshakes, fruit cups with yummy sides, slushies and much more! Students were excited to showcase their stalls and work from the semester. A profit for the day was made that will be used to make some improvements among the college grounds. We look forward to these days happening in the future to bring the college community together. Well done and congratulations to everyone who was involved!
