Carlsruhe Annexe /

Main Campus - Year 4

Welcome back to the beginning of Term 4! Our students have settled quickly back into routines and learning, ready for an exciting term ahead.

In Literacy, we’ve begun exploring Poetry, analysing word choices and poem structures to create our own diamante poems using synonyms and antonyms. Students have loved selecting their own creative topics—ranging from Minecraft and Art to Koalas and Netball—and drafting their unique poems. Check out some of our fabulous work below!

In Mathematics, we’ve been diving into fractions, learning how to split shapes and quantities into equal parts by making real-world connections to food! Using fraction walls, students are identifying equivalent fractions and representing them through bar models, as well as by using numerators and denominators.

Our Inquiry focus this term is on Earth and Chemical Sciences, guided by the key question: “How do water and heat shape our environment and affect life on Earth?  Students will be investigating these ideas throughout the term and are especially looking forward to applying their learning during our Phillip Island Camp

The Year 4 team will be communicating further information about the Phillip Island Camp in the coming weeks, so please keep an eye out for updates.

Carlsruhe

Carlsruhe Activities will begin in the next few weeks! These sessions are always a highlight for students, providing hands-on learning opportunities in our beautiful Carlsruhe environment. In order for these activities to run, we rely on the wonderful support of our parent helpers. If you are available and have a current Working With Children Check, please contact Lisa Sutch or Alison Meggs.

We are also seeking donations for our vegetable garden, particularly potted herbs or vegetable plants. Any contributions would be greatly appreciated and will help our garden thrive this term!
