Learning & Teaching

This year, our school has committed to a renewed focus on Mathematics. We are exploring how we can better engage and support our students in developing strong mathematical understanding, confidence, and enjoyment of learning. We know that mathematics is not only an essential life skill but also a foundation for problem-solving, critical thinking and creativity. As a school, we want every child to see themselves as capable mathematicians who can approach challenges with curiosity and confidence.
To help us shape this direction, we sought feedback from our school community. We would like to sincerely thank all families who recently completed our survey. Your thoughtful feedback is highly valued and plays an important role in informing our planning and next steps. Please note, as the survey was anonymous, we kindly ask that any requests or matters relating specifically to your child be directed to their classroom teacher.
In addition to parent feedback, we also gathered input from our teachers and students. This collective voice has provided us with a comprehensive understanding of our school’s current strengths and areas for growth.
A key outcome emerging from this process is the opportunity to strengthen our pedagogical approach to Mathematics. The feedback will directly inform how we refine teaching practices, design meaningful learning opportunities, and create a culture of engagement and achievement in maths across the school. This work is also closely aligned with the MACS Vision for Engagement and Vision for Instruction. By anchoring our practices in these frameworks, we are ensuring that our teaching is evidence-informed, purposeful and inclusive.
We look forward to keeping our community informed as this important work progresses. We are deeply grateful for the contributions of parents, students and staff, and remain committed to working in partnership to strengthen our teaching and learning of Mathematics at St. Joseph’s.
