DROP OFF AND PICK UP IN LANTANA
Please be mindful of the road signs on Lantana Road. It is a NO PARKING zone in front of the school, during school start and finish times. To ensure a smooth and safe process, we have a designated pick-up system at the end of the day where a teacher monitors and guides students into cars lined up in the queue. This system works efficiently when there are no parked cars breaching the signage during these times. Thank you for your cooperation.
NAPLAN
Our Grade 3 students will be completing their NAPLAN testing this week and into next. As a result, our Grade 3 and 4 students will be running a modified program, with Grade 4 students in 3/4C transitioning to work in either 4A or 4B when the testing is taking place.
๐ฑ LITERACY
Our mentor text for this week will be 'Let The Sun Shine In'. Students will read this text throughout the week with their fluency pair. Using this text as inspiration, they will be engaged in a selection of activities throughout the week, including building their vocabulary knowledge, identifying synonyms and antonyms, and responding to questions about the text.
During Writing, students will be given the opportunity to publish an already started story. Students will be encouraged to focus on their revising, editing and handwriting. We will explore publishing appropriate Apps, such as Pages and Keynote, and encourage students to maximise their functionality.
You can support your child at home by reading favourite stories with your child and noticing key elements of the story, such as the problem, how the problem is solved and interesting words used by the author. You might like to ask them about the story they are working on in class, and prompt them to tell you about the orientation (beginning), problem (middle) and resolution (end).
๐ฑ NUMERACY
This week, students will continue to develop their understanding of place value and key number concepts. We will consolidate our understanding of whole numbers and begin to move into decimals.
You can support your child by encouraging them to notice numbers in real life with decimals, such as the prices of common items, and discuss what the number behind the decimal point means.
๐ฑ CBL
This week, we will continue to focus on the Guiding Question 'How do we connect with others?'
Students will continue to work with their assigned group, participating in a series of mini-challenges. They will be introduced to the concept of group roles (i.e. leader, encourager, resource manager and note taker).
You can support your child at home by asking them about the challenges they participated in during CBL and what their assigned role in their group is.
Level 3 and 4 Behaviour Focus
This week, our level is focusing on transitions within the SWPBS Matrix. This includes how our classes move around the school in a line, and also our effectiveness in transitioning between parts of a learning session (i.e. moving from whole class instruction to working at our desk).
Cross Country Preparation
As the weather (hopefully) begins to cool down, we will giving opportunity for children to practice running for our upcoming Whole School Cross Country. With this in mind, we ask that you ensure your child comes to school with appropriate footwear.
๐ฟ REMINDERS
๐ฑ Please assist your child in ensuring that their iPad comes to school every day, fully charged.
๐ฑ Check that your child has headphones which work and connect to their iPad.
