EARLY STAGE 1
KT & KV
As we conclude Term 1, we are excited to share the wonderful experiences and learning opportunities our kindergarten students have engaged in! This term, our focus has been on building foundational skills in literacy and numeracy, as well as fostering social and emotional development. Students have been introduced to the alphabet and phonemic awareness through engaging stories and songs. We’ve enjoyed reading together and exploring different text types. Many students have begun to recognise letters and sounds, and many can write their names. In mathematics, we’ve explored numbers and counting through hands-on activities. Students have participated in games that reinforce number recognition and basic addition and subtraction concepts. We have emphasised the importance of sharing, taking turns, and working collaboratively. Through group activities, students have learned to express their feelings and listen to others, building a respectful classroom community.
As we move into Term 2, we will continue to build on these skills while introducing new topics and experiences. We are excited to explore nature further and dive into more complex stories in our literacy sessions. Thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement. We look forward to another fantastic term ahead.
Our lessons in history have helped us to learn more about each other, our families, our cultures, and how the past is different to today. We have enjoyed sharing our stories and experiences. We are looking forward to exploring more about different cultures and their celebrations.
Our mathematic lessons have taken us on a journey to discover that maths is everywhere. We have been able to do a lot of mathematical exploring in and out of the classroom. We have really enjoyed the hands-on activities and being able to discover and compare using items we are familiar with.
KT and KV are feeling very excited to be adventuring over to Sydney Zoo at Bungarribee for our very first excursion. They are bursting with enthusiasm to board the bus and trek through the zoo to see animals and habitats from all over the world. Kindergarten's visit to the zoo in Week 7 supports their learning experiences in science for this term. Permission and payment can be made through Sentral.
