PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Monday 12th May 2025

Term 2 is certainly off to a busy start.

We hope you find the new format of our newsletter easy to navigate and informative. The newsletter will be sent out twice a term, in Week 3 and Week 8. Our newsletter aims to be a celebration of the amazing things happening at GVPS and a source of information for upcoming events. A feature of this platform is the ability to switch the language of the text.

This week is a vital opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher during parent teacher interviews on Tuesday and Wednesday. This ongoing partnership with the school and teachers is such an important element of your child’s education.

Last week we held our second Mother’s Day breakfast, 'Muffins with Mum'. It was a great way for the children to honour and acknowledge the amazing women in their lives. It was wonderful to see multiple generations from families taking the time to enjoy each other’s company. It was also great to see women connecting with other women and offering each other friendship and support.

Early this term our school's School Excellence Plan was published on the school website. The plan outlines the school's priorities over the next four years. Use the link below to view Green Valley's School Excellence Plan 2025-2028.

At the start of Term 2, we switch over to winter uniform. I have been reminding the students about what is, and what is not winter uniform for a few weeks. Boys have the option of wearing either their grey shorts or grey long pants and either the short or long sleeved polo. Girls have the option of culottes/skorts and the polo, green long pants and a short or long-sleeved polo, or the winter tunic with lemon shirt and stockings or white socks. The winter uniform is NOT the summer dress with stockings. I ask for your support in ensuring your child is in the correct uniform everyday. If you need assistance with the uniform please contact the office.

Over the next few weeks there are a lot of upcoming events. I encourage you to ensure you are connected to the Parent Portal and have notifications enabled so you are on top of permissions, payments, and pick-up and drop-off times.

This Wednesday morning at 9am the school P&C is holding their next meeting. The meeting will be held in the Cubby House. This is an opportunity to hear about what is upcoming at school and to have some input into school-based decisions.

In staffing news, at the end of last term we farewelled Miss Borg after 15 years here at Green Valley PS. She received a service transfer to Spring Farm Public School. We wish her all the best.
