Welcome foundation students

A warm welcome to all of our foundation students who have started school this term! It has been great to see many smiling faces as students have been settling into their new classroom routines and engaging in a range of fun learning activities.

Primary School

Room 1 students have had a great start to the year! The foundation and new students have settled in well and are busy learning lots of routines and trying many new activities. We’ve enjoyed participating in the SWPBS (school-wide positive behaviour support) program, learning about our school values; care, share, do your best and be safe. Students have loved participating in different programs across the school including bike riding and music, exploring the school and meeting lots of new staff

Well done everyone!

Secondary School

As we step into a year, there are a lot of exciting things happening here in the Secondary Section. As the school term progresses, we have seen a lot of happy and engaged students participating in our science and geography sessions! Our students have had a focus on exploring the wonders of both the living world and the diverse landscapes of our planet. Another area of focus is the Career Action Plans, which focus' on the students likes and dislikes, areas for growth and development and getting ready for the workplace.

Photos from Room 13/14! Connor getting stuck into some gardening, William bouncing on the trampoline, and Ryan and Connor engaging in some math tasks.

Some photos from Room 17! Leo celebrating a birthday, Jade and Samuel during math’s rotations, and Michaela practising life skills.

Transition Section

It has been a busy first term for our transition section. This is the first year that students have officially been enrolled in the Victorian Pathways Certificate in the areas of literacy, numeracy, personal development, and work-related skills. Programs have been designed to support each student in developing skills in these areas through a structured yet flexible program, preparing them to transition into life beyond school.

In school, programs in first term have included speech and resume writing, food safety, school community jobs, as well as specialist programs of Art, Dream Big, PE and bike education. Moreover, students have been hard at work organising our CSDS Careers Expo on the 26th of March (see upcoming events for more details!)

Students have also had the opportunity to engage with external providers on employability skills through their works with GenU, as well as networking with other local specialist schools through Interschool Sports. Here are some action shots!
