It was great to see so many of parents and cares coming into school last week for Student Support Group meetings with your child's teacher. There are still a couple of classes who will have their SSG meetings a bit later as the classroom teachers have been away. If you were unable to make a time last week, it's still not too late to arrange a meeting. Please let your child's teacher know via the Communication Books, a Compass email or phone call to the front office and the teacher can book in a meeting time with you.
Following these meetings, teachers are now working on individual student goals for Semester 1. These will be shared with you in your child's Individual Education Plan at the end of this term. Classroom programs and learning activities will be centred around these student goals. In term 2, the SSG meetings will review your child's progress against their goals and teachers will complete a mid year report.
We have recently appointed a number of new Education Support staff and we warmly welcome them to Croydon SDS.

We encourage all families to have their children at school at 9am. This gives them time to transition in to school with their peers and commence their learning programs. Our Literacy and Numeracy core programs usually take place in the mornings as students are often learning ready at this time of the day. If you need support regarding building your child's morning routine to help with on time school arrival, please contact your child's teacher or Linda Garland (Family Support Co-Ordinator) as they would be happy to support you with this process.
For a number of years we have been working with a Behaviour Analyst, Dan Petro. Dan provides professional learning to our staff to assist them to build their skills to best support our students. Dan has also provided learning sessions for parents/ carers about how to support their child's behaviour. Dan was in on Tuesday this week and visited several of our classrooms as well as working with our new staff. Dan will be back at our school in September when we will offer a parent information session with him. We will send out information closer to the time.
There is no school on Monday due to the Labour Day public holiday. I hope you all have a safe long weekend and we look forward to seeing all students back on Tuesday.
