ST LEONDARDS LEADERSHIP CONFRENCE
Dare to Inspire, Dare to Innovate & Dare to be Vulnerable
On Thursday the 20th of February, the 2025 senior college captain team went to St Leonards College for the annual leadership conference. The day was centred around the idea of 'Dare to', with 3 different seminars spoken by key members of the community who follow and display these dare to motives in their day to day life.
The first area was 'Dare to Inspire', spoken by Alex Dekker. Alex spoke about his journey from being 19 year old uni student who decided to cook his sister, a medical hero during COVID, a hot meal. His dedication to this extended his work to the wider community, now providing meals for the homeless and those in need. We followed this with a practical seminar where we communicated with our fellow College Captains from the Melbourne area.
The second seminar was spoken by a popular speaker, Jeremy Loeliger, former CEO of the NBL. His focus, 'Dare to Innovate', enlightened us on how to work together, persevere and have a never give up attitude to always reach our goal. We then went back to our groups to discuss this idea and were then treated to a delicious and delectable lunch.
Our final speaker, Alison Budgen, an organisational consultant and psychologist, spoke on the theme 'Dare to be Vulnerable.' She highlighted the importance of emotional awareness and vulnerability in leadership, demonstrating how these qualities enhance our growth as leaders
Overall, it was an amazing day and we were all so grateful for the experiences and lessons we learnt. We formed long-lasting relationships with fellow schools, aiming to not only work within our school but to extend our work to the wider community.
