Year 7 News

Cam Bruce & Belle Healey, Year 7 Coordinators

The term is moving very quickly, as we settle into a new routine there are a few little reminders we would like to pass on to families.

Assessments & Homework

As assessments are introduced and completed, some students are beginning to feel the pressure and may be finding it difficult to keep track of what is required in each of their subjects. Parents and Guardians can support their student by asking a few questions at home or taking some time to help them sort through the work that comes home with them. Don’t forget to ask if they have written down assessments in their diaries! Please remind your child that it is OK to speak with their teacher during or after class about things they are finding difficult. Students looking for additional help are welcome to attend either the Maths Help sessions on Mondays at 3:30pm in M13, or the English Help that is offered each Monday and Thursday at 3:30pm in M wing.

Immunisations

On Tuesday 4th March Year 7 students were immunised through Horsham Rural City Council. We would like to thank all the Horsham College wellbeing staff for supporting our Year 7 students throughout the morning.

Victorian Space Science Education Centre

This week, Horsham College hosted guest presenters from the Victorian Space Science Education Centre. All Year 7 classes participated in a session where they designed, constructed  and launched a water rockets. This was a fun learning experience that enabled students to build their understanding of energy and forces. We are appreciative of the funding available to rural schools, enabling us to provide these opportunities at no cost to our students.
