We have passed the halfway point of Term 1, and what an eventful term it’s been already. With lots of events occurring every week, we are excited to see what 2025 has in store for all of our students!
Every day counts
We want all of our students to receive a high-quality education, and the foundation for that starts with students attending school every day. By attending regularly, students develop essential habits that are crucial for success in both their future careers and further education.
Missing school can have significant consequences, both academically and socially. Missing just one day every two weeks adds up to 1.5 years of lost schooling over 13 years.
It’s never too late to improve attendance. Even during the middle years, when school can feel the most challenging and attendance rates tend to decline, attending more regularly can make a significant difference. If you're facing attendance challenges with your child, reach out to us—we're here to help and will work together to address the issue.
If your child is going to be absent or leave early, please call the absence hotline at 5381 7172 or contact your child’s form group teacher.
Calling out & reporting racism
Unfortunately, racism still exists in our society. Horsham College has a zero-tolerance approach to any kind of racism and it is everyone’s responsibility to stamp it out. By calling out any ‘comments’ and reporting all forms of racism, we demonstrate one of our core values of caring for everyone.
Media Consent Forms
We love celebrating our students' achievements by showcasing them in local newspapers, on the College's Facebook page, and in our school handbooks. If you haven’t yet returned your child’s media consent form, please do so at your earliest convenience. Your consent and return of these forms help us highlight and share our students’ success!
SRC 2025
Over 30 students have expressed their intent to be part of the Student Representative Council (SRC) for 2025. This significant interest reflects the students' enthusiasm and commitment to playing an active role in shaping their school environment. Meetings for the SRC will commence later in the term, providing students with the platform to voice their ideas, advocate for change, and contribute to improvements across the school. We look forward to seeing how this group will contribute to the continued growth and success of our school community.
‘Strike up a Yarn at Lanes and Games’
We are thrilled to invite all Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander students and their families to a fun-filled evening at Horsham Lanes & Games on Thursday, March 27th from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. This event promises to be a fantastic opportunity to connect, engage, and celebrate our community. Whether you are a student or a family member, this is a chance to meet new faces, share stories, and enjoy some fun activities in a welcoming and supportive environment.
