Year 7 News

Vermont Secondary College

As we move through this term, our Year 7 students have been working incredibly hard! This is a particularly busy time of year, with NAPLAN testing and various assessments taking place across all subjects. Despite the challenges, our students have shown fantastic resilience, focus, and enthusiasm in their learning.

We understand that this can be a stressful time, and we encourage students to maintain a healthy balance with plenty of rest, good nutrition, and relaxation. If your child is feeling overwhelmed, please remind them that year 7 is a time of learning and growth and it is normal to find this challenging.

Some down time is particularly important for our year 7’s, so encourage them to participate in a sport, music program or one of our many clubs on offer at Vermont Secondary College. We also have homework club afterschool on Monday in the library if some extra support is needed.

Above all, we want to acknowledge how incredibly well our Year 7s are doing. Their hard work and perseverance are truly commendable, and we are so proud of their efforts. Keep up the great work, Year 7!

Recently, we had some of our year 7 students share their thoughts about our swimming carnival. Here is what Jeremy and Aiden had to say:

Swimming, splashing around. 3 metres deep trying to reach the bottom. Down we go with no sound. Backflips, pin drops and cannonballs to. Riding each other’s on one another. Racing viciously while some might not. Trying to get the biggest splash. Silly as we were. Bribing each other with some cash. Only now it now has to end.  -Jeremy L S

My swimming sports day Swimming was a very exciting event! I got pretty decent scores, second in backstroke 50m, 3rd in freestyle 50m and 3rd in the relay with some of my friends. The spirit from Stirling, Hotham and Macedon was contagious! My friends cheered me on so much that I tried to push myself further and further! And of course, the chupa-chups! (Thanks Mrs Carra!). The overall experience was definitely worth it, this is going to be one of my highlights for the year. Thank you for making this event so fun and memorable. -Aiden F

Thank You
