COLLEGE COUNCIL REPORT TUESDAY 18TH MARCH 2025

The newly elected council convened for the first time this year on Tuesday 18/3/2025. We welcomed the new student, parent and staff members to the committee and elected the president, vice-president and treasurer for the year 2025. Subsequently various committee members joined one or more subcommittees in Finance, Health & Safety and the Canteen.

Three council members are also VSCCA (Vermont Secondary College Community Association) members which further strengthens the good relationship and communications between the community association and college council. Note that any parent can join the VSCCA and attend their meetings where you can be informed about many aspects of the college, be it curriculum, wellbeing, future developments, fundraising, etc. Various decisions and discussions at the college council and various subcommittees are presented to the community at the VSCCA meetings.

Vermont Secondary College recently had its next 4-year Strategic Plan (2025 – 2028) approved and at the meeting the council approved the 2025 Annual Implementation Plan (AIP). The 2025 AIP sets out the aims and plans to initiate and develop the process(es) of achieving the goals of the new Strategic Plan.

Council further approved the spending for various projects, verified the accounts and approved signatures to the accounts, received an update on the budget, deregistered various obsolete school items, approved the hiring of our facilities by a community group, approved the hiring of several people to support the school in various areas (tutors, canteen, events, etc.), and were given an overview of all registered volunteers to the school. Reports of the subcommittees were accepted and the camps for the Year 8 City camp and Year 9 Phillip Island camp were approved.
