Foundation
We’ve had an exciting week in Foundation!
Last Thursday, we have a special visit from Mrs Number (Mrs. Turnbull), who brought fun and engaging activities to help us explore numbers in new ways. The children had a fantastic time learning through play! We have been busy creating shapes using geostrips, which has helped us develop our understanding of different shapes and their properties. Along the way, we’ve also been learning new mathematical vocabulary to describe what we see and create.
One of the biggest highlights in our classroom is the countdown to our quail eggs hatching! The children are eagerly waiting and checking every day for any signs of movement—we can’t wait to meet our little feathered friends!
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to sharing more exciting learning adventures with you soon!

Year 1/2 A
The students in Year 1/2A have been engaged in lots of exciting learning this term!
In our continued focus on SWPBS, we have been reinforcing our expected behaviours, helping students develop positive habits that create a safe and respectful learning environment.
In Mathematics, we have been exploring different ways to make and break numbers. Through hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks, students are building confidence in recognizing number patterns and understanding how numbers work in everyday situations.
In Inquiry, we have been learning about coping strategies, discussing ways to manage emotions, problem-solve, and stay calm in different situations. These skills are helping students develop resilience and confidence in their learning and social interactions.
A special highlight has been the arrival of Yindi, our wellbeing dog! Yindi has been joining us for regular visits, bringing a sense of calm and joy to our classroom. The students love spending time with her, and she is quickly becoming an important part of our learning space.
We would also like to remind families about the importance of regular reading at home each night. Reading regularly helps to build fluency, comprehension, and a love of books! Additionally, students are encouraged to complete their homework tasks, which are due each Friday.
Finally, please remember to send library bags on Wednesdays so students can borrow and enjoy new books each week.
Thank you for your continued support—we look forward to another great term of learning and growth in Year 1/2!

Year 5 & 6
It's been an exciting few weeks in the 5/6 classroom! In Writing, students have been exploring both persuasive and narrative writing techniques, developing their skills in expressing their ideas clearly and creatively. In Maths, we’ve been tackling number operations and strengthening our problem-solving abilities. Additionally, in Inquiry, students have begun working on their stop-motion video projects, blending creativity with technology.
A special mention goes out to the Year 5 students who have recently completed NAPLAN. They demonstrated great perseverance and focus throughout the process—well done!
As a reminder, we encourage all students to read every night. This practice not only boosts literacy skills but also fosters a love of reading. A big thank you to all parents and carers for their continued support in listening to students read and signing their reading diaries.

Auslan
To help your children learn the basics of Auslan more effectively please encourage them to practice their alphabet. The ability to fingerspell words aids in communication when students do not know the sign for a word/idea. Please encourage your child to fingerspell the names of things they see everywhere. This helps with recall of the alphabet signs and developing fluency.

Year 10
Over the past week, our Year 10s took part in work experience and the feedback has been wonderful. The employers have spoken glowingly of the students who worked in a range of fields, from retail, to healthcare, trades, and the legal system. Our students impressed their employers with their enthusiasm, professionalism, and eagerness to learn—well done to everyone.
Also, a big thank you to all the local businesses and community members who supported our students by offering their time and resources. Your help has made a real difference, and we truly appreciate your commitment to the next generation.
Please don’t forget that our school fete is coming up soon. A big part of the fete is the Easter raffle and we're seeking donations of easter eggs or easter-themed items for prizes. The fete and raffle is a great way to come together as a school community and kick off the holidays. We encourage everyone to get involved—whether it’s by volunteering, donating, or buying raffle tickets. Your support makes these events a huge success and a wonderful showcase for Wedderburn College
