A message from the Principal

Year level information nights

Last week parents were all invited to attend our annual Year Level Information Sessions.

Over two engaging evenings, our dedicated class teachers shared a wealth of information about the exciting learning journeys planned for their classrooms this year. These sessions were a fantastic opportunity for parents and carers to get to know the teachers, understand the year’s learning focus, and ask thoughtful questions.

It was truly inspiring to see the knowledge, skills, and passion our teachers bring to their classrooms. As I attended these sessions, I couldn’t help but reflect on how incredibly fortunate our students are to have such committed educators guiding them every day.

Key Highlights from the Sessions:

Introducing Our Amazing Teachers – Families had the chance to meet the teachers and learn more about their approaches to supporting student success.

📚 New Reading and Spelling Curriculum – PhOrMeS – Teachers discussed this exciting new program in detail. (Jac will explore this further later in the newsletter—in our 'Teaching and Learning Update')

✍️ Writing Curriculum Developments – Our teachers are enhancing how we teach writing, ensuring students have rich opportunities to express themselves clearly and confidently.

Innovations in Maths Teaching – We’re thrilled to be using incredible resources from Ochre, making maths more accessible and engaging for all learners.

🏡 Home Learning & Key Routines – Teachers provided practical guidance on how home learning will support what’s happening in the classroom, along with essential daily routines.

📅 Upcoming Events – From excursions to special class projects, teachers previewed the wonderful experiences planned for the year ahead.

A special focus during the sessions was on our school’s transition towards explicit instruction, in line with the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0. This shift ensures that students receive clear, structured guidance in their learning, setting them up for success in all areas.

For those families who weren’t able to attend, we know that nothing quite matches hearing from our teachers first hand. However, we’ve included PDF slides from each year level’s event below. While these slides can’t fully capture the dynamic conversations and connections made during the sessions, they still provide essential insights into what’s happening in our classrooms this year.

Thank you to all the families who attended and contributed to such positive discussions. Your involvement plays a crucial role in our students’ success, and we’re grateful for your continued partnership.

Here’s to an exciting year of learning, growth, and connection!

Warm regards,

Neil Scott
