School Council

Thank you to the parents that have self-nominated for the 4 available positions on School Council. Nominations closed on Thursday afternoon and we had 5 nominations. As such, we will need to go to an election.

The nominees are:

Meredith Anderson, parent of Ollie in Year 8

Emma Colson, parent of Betty in Year 8

Rachel Fallon, parent of Nina in Year 8

Jason Frede, parent of Lewis in Year 9

Claire Mackinlay, parent of Suni in Year 9 and Mac in Year 7.

A ballot paper for parents is included below, and a paper copy is available from the office.

The ballot will close on Friday 7th March at 12pm and the result will be announced in the newsletter.

Future Makers

Going on camp is one of those things that you generally don’t look forward to; but you love it when you are there! Leaving the creature comforts of home, the break in routine and lack of sleep are definitely the down side. The great side is seeing our students dealing with exactly those same issues, while pushing themselves to try new things and get involved, when hanging back would be an easier option.

As a Principal, seeing how our students interact with each other, students from other schools, different staff and other people makes me truly proud of our students. They are just lovely young people! While they make mistakes at times, all teenagers do; seeing the learning from these mistakes and seeing our young people shine drives me each day to do my best for our students, school and community.

School Student Broadband Initiative

The School Student Broadband Initiative has been extended. Eligible families with school-aged students can access free NBN broadband internet at home, however, the initiative is capped at 30,000 services connected. Once this number is reached, no further applications to participate in the initiative will be accepted.

Households already connected to the NBN network through the initiative will have their connection automatically extended with their participating internet provider until Friday 30 June 2028.

Households who already have a voucher to take part in the initiative should activate their free service with a participating internet provider as soon as possible.

For all other households who haven’t been assessed, but may be eligible for the initiative, please contact the NBN’s National Referral Centre for an assessment. If eligible, you will be sent a voucher to access free home internet until Friday 30 June 2028. However, all vouchers must be activated before the 30,000 cap is reached as it will become invalid after this time.
