Wellbeing News

Dear Parents,

I am excited to introduce myself as the Wellbeing Leader at OLGC this year. It has been a fantastic start to the role, and I feel privileged to support the wellbeing of our students and school community. My goal is to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment where every student feels valued and empowered to thrive.

Term 2

In Term 2, our wellbeing focus will be Personal and Cultural Strengths in the first half of the term, followed by Positive Coping in the second half.

Personal and Cultural Strengths will help students explore their own strengths and appreciate the diverse strengths of others. They will learn how their unique qualities contribute to their resilience, friendships, and learning. Positive Coping will focus on strategies to manage challenges, build resilience, and develop problem-solving skills. Students will explore different ways to handle stress and setbacks in a healthy and constructive manner.

Moving Forward – Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

At OLGC, we are committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment where all students can thrive. As part of this commitment, we are implementing Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL). PBL is a proactive, school-wide approach that focuses on teaching and reinforcing positive behaviours to support student learning and wellbeing.

This approach helps students understand what is expected of them, feel more engaged in their learning, and build positive relationships with peers and staff. We look forward to sharing more about PBL as we roll out this framework and encourage families to be part of the journey with us.

Warm regards,

Tom Brophy
