Eucalyptus Group
Term 1 2026
Last Term the Eucalyptus children made a positive start to kindergarten. As our Monday group, with a mix of three- and four-year-old children, we have focused on building a strong sense of belonging while supporting children to form connections with peers from across Livingston.
Throughout the term, children have grown in confidence as they explore and engage in the social and physical environment. We have seen children increasingly express their own ideas in play, practise interacting with a range of friends, and develop secure attachments with teachers and educators—supporting calm, positive transitions and a sense of safety within the group.
Our learning this term has been enriched by children’s curiosity and wonder. At the STEM wall, children noticed the shadows behind them and experimented with different hand movements and materials to create dinosaur shapes and stories. These playful investigations supported early scientific thinking, creativity, collaboration, and language as children shared ideas and tested what worked best.
Children also engaged in an exciting science experience exploring bubbles. We discussedwhy bubbles pop, made our own bubble mixture, and tested ideas for creating largerbubbles. Children discovered that it is possible to place an object inside a bubble without itpopping and enjoyed experimenting with different tools and techniques—finishing withEmma’s impressive “dragon bubbles”! This hands-on learning encouraged children to hypothesise, observe closely, and persist as they refined their ideas.
We have loved learning alongside the Eucalyptus children and look forward to continuing their growth, friendships and discoveries in Term 2.
