What's happening in the Specialist and Enrichment Classes?

French Enrichment Program

Our new French enrichment program, CJC's new initiative to support our commitment in offering more opportunities to the student to learn French, is a great success.  The students enrolled in the program have already fast-tracked their learning, while the junior cohort performed a medley of French song at assembly earlier this month.  Thank you to our dedicated team, particularly Mme Bokobza and Mr Berraud for their passion and dedication to the projet.  Our Prep students will join the program in Term 2.

Performing Arts

In Performing Arts, the 5/6 students have been exploring the fascinating world of music genres.

Starting with the Pop and Rock genres, they learned about the characteristics of each form in order to compose their very own original songs using Garage Band. They enjoyed diving into the rich history of music, discovering Pop and Rock songs from each decade.

Here's what they have to say...

They are excited to discover new genres next term 🙂

Visual Arts

Traces from long long ago …

This Term 1, our Junior School students explored the earliest forms of human art. They created a parietal fresco, as well as individual clay pieces such as amulets, pots, or animals. The students were highly engaged and produced truly fantastic work.

Senior School

This term, our Senior School students explored aspects of Ancient art. They created stunning Egyptian hieroglyph cartouches, and some had time to make bas-reliefs in clay inspired by Ancient Greece. The students  produced beautiful work  with a great attention to details. We are very proud of their creativity and effort.

This term, Year 5/6 students explored natural disasters, focusing on earthquakes, tsunamis and volcanic eruptions. They learnt that all three of these events can be triggered by movement of the Earth’s tectonic plates. They were mesmerised by videos and first-hand accounts of significant events that have changed the Earth’s surface throughout history.

Digital Technology

Prep:

Recently, students have explored what makes an item digital by sorting digital and non-digital objects and discussing how technology is used in everyday life. Students also learned basic iPad functions, what apps are, and how to use devices safely and responsibly in the classroom.

Grade 1/2:

Students have been exploring how to use devices safely and responsibly through our Digital Classroom Norms. Students are creating their own Keynote presentations to explain each norm in a clear and engaging way. They are learning how to add text, images, and voice recordings to communicate their ideas. This project is helping students build confidence using digital tools while reinforcing positive and respectful technology habits.

Grade 3/4:

Using their knowledge of the Super Digital Citizen values, students clearly explained key ideas such as being kind, alert, strong, brave, and smart online in the form of animation. Through this process, students demonstrated their understanding by communicating messages in an engaging and meaningful way, helping others learn how to be safe and responsible when using digital technologies.

Grade 5/6:

Students have been exploring digital footprints, the trail of information we leave behind when we use the internet. They learned that what we post, share, and interact with online can shape how others see us, including people beyond our intended audience. Through this learning, students considered how to make positive choices online and created infographics that highlight ways to build a safe and respectful digital presence.

French and Spanish LOTE

In French, the younger students also learned how to introduce themselves and talk about their age, as well as body parts and colours. The older students focused on how to describe someone’s character and physical appearance. We also reviewed the family members at the end of the term. Bonnes vacances!

We all had lots of fun learning languages!
