The students in 7E are bubbly and enjoy engaging in discussions. They engage in a variety of activities outside of school. We have some legendary netballers, mountain bikers and even a strict referee. They have some interesting taste in music, judging by our class playlists. We enjoy some drama and this is evident in our weekly class stories.
For the first five weeks this term we are looking at a Reader's Response unit around the brilliant author, Margaret Wild. We are developing our ability to discuss the text in class, then engage in writing about reading in our independent time. An area that we can improve on is our ability to engage in independent reading.
We also have an independent writing session each week and the students' interests are catered for by allowing them to write within their favourite text type. The purpose is to implement strategies developed in Term 1, to make their writing more engaging by developing their parts of speech (adjectives, verbs and adverbs), as well as experimenting with literary devices.

SCIENCE
In Science, 7E have been investigating ecosystems, organisms and habitats. Building on last term’s understanding of living things through classification systems, students consider how habitats must provide everything an organism needs to survive. Students have investigated what species live in the wetlands. So far surprises have included brown tree frogs, huntsman spiders, fungi, lots of insects and a wide diversity of birds.

MATHS
This week in Maths, 7E are exploring probability. Students are exploring how probability can be represented in different ways, including fractions, decimals, and percentages, and how these forms are connected. They are developing an understanding of how the likelihood of events can change, and how probability can sometimes be influenced or put in our favour. We are focusing on using mathematical language to describe events, such as certain, likely, unlikely, and impossible, and placing events on a probability scale from 0 to 1. Students are also being introduced to the idea of variables, helping them understand how different factors can affect outcomes in probability experiments.

PE/Health
7E have been taking advantage of their PE lessons to train for the Athletics Carnival, building their skills in running, jumping and throwing events.

HUMANITIES
7E are learning about water as a resource, including how it supports life and is used in everyday activities. They are also exploring why water is limited and the importance of conserving and managing it sustainably.
