Primary School

What a wonderful way to conclude our first term of the year! It was a joy to see our students, staff, and so many of our families come together this morning for the Primary Easter Celebrations.
The festivities began with the much-loved annual Easter Bonnet Parade, where students proudly showcased their creativity, imagination, and sense of fun. The smiles and excitement on display truly captured the spirit of the occasion.
I would like to thank Mr Brett Harris for his engaging role as MC, and Mrs Gibbs for coordinating the fantastic performance, Hot Chocolate, by the Jr Singers, which added so much energy and enjoyment to the morning. A special thank you also goes to Vicky McGillivray, Fergus McGillivray, Violet McGillivray, and Lincoln Bohn for their support buttering the hot cross buns. Thank you to our Maintenance, IT, and Communications and Events teams, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the event ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all.
Finally, I would like to thank our classroom teachers for planning such fun and meaningful Easter activities, and for welcoming families into classrooms to share in these special moments together. Events like this highlight the strong sense of community that makes our school such a wonderful place to be.
Wedding Celebration
On Wednesday morning, our Primary community shared a truly joyful and memorable celebration as we came together to mark the upcoming wedding of our much-loved Kindergarten B teacher, Zoe Dennis, and her fiancé, Jake Rollinson. The morning beautifully reflected the joy of a wedding day, beginning with a lovely ceremony led by our Chaplain, Tim Bowles, followed by a creative and heartfelt dance performed by the Primary staff.
Students and staff then joined together for a lively celebration that felt very much like a wedding reception. Laughter, smiles, and a wonderful sense of community made it a special occasion for everyone involved. We now eagerly look forward to hearing all about Zoe and Jake’s wedding on Friday 17 April and wish them every happiness as they prepare for their special day.
Year 5 Tie a Tie
As part of the Moama Anglican Grammar uniform, Year 5 marks an exciting milestone for our students as they begin wearing ties. On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome Mr Alan Davidson into our Year 5 classrooms to teach students how to correctly tie a tie.
With great enthusiasm, Mr Davidson arrived with his remarkable collection of over two hundred ties, instantly capturing the students’ interest. By the end of the session, more than 50 students were confidently tying their own ties, complete with neat knots sitting perfectly beneath their collars. The students thoroughly enjoyed hearing the stories behind many of the ties in Mr Davidson’s colourful collection and benefited from his patient, clear, and scaffolded instruction.
Mr Davidson generously left his tie collection at the school, and it has been wonderful to see students continuing to practise their new skills whenever they have a spare moment. Thank you, Mr Davidson, for playing such a significant role in this memorable Year 5 milestone.
LifeChanger Workshop Year 6
This week, our Year 6 students participated in engaging workshops delivered by LifeChanger, a wellbeing education organisation that supports young people to build resilience, emotional intelligence and positive connections. For Year 6, the focus was on navigating friendships, with students exploring empathy, communication and inclusion through meaningful discussions and activities. The workshop helped students develop important skills to build and maintain healthy relationships as they prepare for the transition to secondary school.
"On Tuesday 31 March, during periods 5 and 6, all the Year 6 students participated in the LifeChanger session. The topic was about friendship and kindness. First of all, we played a bingo game with other students to find someone who fits the topic. Each student was only used once by individual students. We wrote in a paper jar about what makes a great and not-so-great friend. Some good qualities were loyalty and making time for others.
After that, we did a friendship boundaries activity where the teacher shared a scenario and we had to cross the tape line if it was crossing boundaries. One of them was if your sibling went into your room and borrowed something without asking, which most people stepped forward for.
Then everyone wrote a note of appreciation and gratitude to someone. Sadly, not everyone got a note, but they were still happy to see themselves make someone's day. Overall, it was a great experience and very fun."

Staff Achievement
We are delighted to congratulate Mrs Jodie Sly on her outstanding professional achievements. A valued Education Assistant for over eight years, Jodie commenced her Master of Primary Teaching in 2025, building on her strong academic background, which includes a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Teaching (Birth to Five Years). While completing her degree, Jodie has been granted provisional accreditation, enabling her to work in a casual teaching capacity. Jodie recently enjoyed her first day as a CRT in Year 2B, where students were thrilled to welcome her into the classroom.
Jodie has also successfully passed the LANTITE assessments, demonstrating high-level literacy and numeracy skills, and has been recognised with an Executive Dean’s Award for academic excellence. We warmly congratulate Jodie on these significant accomplishments and celebrate her ongoing commitment to professional growth and her future in primary education.
Early Stage 1 Assembly
Congratulations to our Kindergarten students on completing their first term of school! Each student has made amazing progress, achieving a range of goals, some social and some academic, and we are incredibly proud of every student. We proudly celebrated our Kindergarten Superstar Award recipients at our recent Stage Assembly.
We would like to wish Louis from KB and his family all the best at their new school and congratulate Miss Dennis on her upcoming wedding. The students have grown in confidence and independence throughout Term 1 and can now enjoy a well-earned break (so can the teachers!).
Stage 1 Assembly
The Stage 1 Assembly, held on Wednesday 1 April, was a wonderful celebration of student achievement and performance. Students in Year 2A hosted the Assembly with confidence and professionalism, leading the event in an organised and engaging manner. They delighted the audience with their performance of the Italian song ‘Bongiorno – Good Morning’, showcasing their enthusiasm and growing language skills.
A highlight of the Assembly was the recognition of many award recipients, as students were celebrated as the final Stage 1 Superstars for Term 1. Congratulations to 2A for their excellent efforts in hosting and contributing to such a successful assembly.

Stage 2 Assembly
Our Year 4 students recently enjoyed a wonderful Stage 2 Assembly, where they celebrated the achievements and successes of their peers from Years 3 and 4. During the assembly, several students proudly shared their learning with the Stage Two community. They spoke confidently about dividing and multiplying by 8s and 9s, demonstrating their strong grasp of these multiplication and division facts. The students also showcased their creativity through the use of figurative language and the beautiful poems they created. It was fantastic to see their imaginative use of similes, metaphors, and descriptive language brought to life in their poetry.
During Term 1, students have been learning about Australian history and different perspectives on what it means to be Australian as part of this term’s inquiry unit, Before Contact: Australia’s First People. Students learned about the strong connection First Nations peoples have to Country, and how it shapes their culture and identity. We listened to songs about this connection and discussed their meaning. Students also explored different views about Australia Day. Students learned that some people celebrate, while others feel it is a sad day. We discussed whether the Australian flag represents everyone in the country and created our own designs to demonstrate inclusivity.
A big congratulations to all the students who presented and to everyone who contributed to making the Assembly such a positive and inspiring event. Well done, Year 4!
