Art Class

All Year Levels

Foundation

Foundation students have been working hard over the last few weeks to create some very cute and very scary monsters. We have been learning about the three of the Art Elements: line, shape and colour. Students used oil pastels to create all different types of lines, then painted horizontal stripes of watercolour paint to create their monster skin. Finally they added cut out paper shapes to create eyes, mouths, teeth, horns and wings. These monsters look awesome and will be up on display around the school soon!

Year 1 - 6

Throughout Term 1 students across the school have been working on an abstract(ish!) painting representing their favourite place. These beautiful paintings have been created with a mix of acrylic paint, oil pastels, watercolour paint and (everybody’s favourite) POSCA paint pens. Students explored colour, shape and texture, taking inspiration from a range of established abstract artists such as Bronwyn Bancroft, Yayoi Kusama, Sonia Delaunay and Wassily Kandinsky. The final pieces are absolutely exquisite, they will hopefully be part of our (mini) Art Show later in the year.
