STEM

STEM, Art, Reuse, Repurpose, Legacy and what came next…

Over the past few months, the STEM Captains and Mr KT have been developing a STEM sign for the STEM room. It has been placed on top of the STEM room front doors. We had help from Steve Pratt, a local artist. Steve is a metal artist in Drysdale. He uses lots of old scrap metal and makes wonderful artworks with it. Last term, Steve visited us at the STEM room and we made a plan on how it was going to look. Steve worked on it over the next few days and weeks. The STEM sign includes pieces such as a hammer lock, a tongue from a lifting hook on a crane, threaded bars, a square hollow section, nuts, bolts and a carbine clip. The Rubik’s Cube represents Arthur Garnier and the guitar represents Wynne Jackson. This is part of our legacy as the 2024 STEM Captains Legacy.

During this process, Steve told us that his job involves all areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). We would like to thank Steve Pratt for his generosity and creativity.
