Brooke's Message
Hey Families!
What an EXCITING couple of weeks we've had!
A Night to Remember
Our Year 12 Graduation was held last Friday and was a truly magical night! It was wonderful to celebrate the achievements of our graduating students and to see how far they've come. We wish them all the best for the next stage of their journey and know we are going to miss them terribly! Congratulations to all the Graduates and especially to the award winners
Most improved – Ricky Parsons and Tori McLellan
School Wide Positive Behaviour for Learning – Thomas Lucassen
Principals Award – Tahnee Lea Lewis
Caltex All Rounder – Yuvraj Bassi
Turn up: The MSS School Song!
The highlight of the term has definitely been our collaboration with Grand Trine Creative and Dallas Woods. Our amazing students worked hard to write lyrics, choreograph moves, and create a music video that truly represents our school. We're so proud of their hard work, enthusiasm, and courage. You can check out the video on YouTube:
So far, we have opened Principal Forums and the I Can Expo. The students have been invited to various events to showcase their video and talk about their experiences. At school we have cut the chorus and have been teaching the whole school the words so we can embed it in our daily life as a school song.
Snack Time!
We've also started our new Snack Program! The aim is to help our students improve their communication skills, turn-taking, and explore new foods. A big thanks to the Taranto family for their generous fruit donations and to our dedicated staff for their extra effort in making this program a success.
Bunji's Back!
Our furry friend, Bunji, is back and happier than ever. It was great to see so many smiling faces when he returned. We're so glad he's feeling better!
Planning for 2025
We're already starting to plan for the 2025 school year. This includes creating class groups and finalising staffing. We're committed to providing the best possible learning environment for all our students.
At this stage due to a huge spike in enrolments and personal circumstances for our staff, we are recruiting teachers. We will do our best to confirm staffing arrangement this term however it may be necessary for us to recruit through the school holidays.
Our Step-up day is Tuesday 17th December. Students will get to meet their classroom staff and students. We will send home a Social Narrative around change and 2025. This can be used throughout the 5 week school holiday break to reassure young people who may find change difficult. We understand this can be a time of uncertainty for families and students and we are working to provide consistency and sustainability. It would be irresponsible for us to release staffing lists now knowing there will be significant changes. Just a reminder, we do not accept requests for staff to specifically work with students.
A Reminder About Mobile Phones
As a reminder, please note that the Department of Education and Training (DET) has a policy regarding mobile phone use in schools. To ensure a safe and focused learning environment, we ask that students keep their mobile phones turned off and securely stored during school hours.
Thank you for your continued support!
