Christmas Concert
There is much excitement at Holy Family as we begin our preparations for the annual school and Parish Christmas Concert.More information will be coming soon but please find below an overview of the event.
Date: Friday 28th November 2024
Timing:
5pm - Food Stalls open in the Undercroft
5:15pm- Strings Performance
5:30pm- Band Performance - students will go to their classrooms
5:45pm- Community Christmas Carols
6pm- Christmas Nativity Concert
7.1pm (approx.) Concert concludes and students are dismissed
Costumes: Mrs Nash is able to provide many additional parts of costumes, and more information will be coming!
Kindergarten - Dress as stable animals (head gear provided)
Year One- Sheep and Shepherds (sheep head gear provided)
Year Two- Stars - brightly coloured outfits and tinsel
3W- Wise Men followers and some students will be "Wise Men" (most costumes provided)
4G- Traveller, Roman Guards and Inn Keepers (most costumes provided)
Seniors- some students will be narrators, Inn spectators, Mary, Joseph, Gabriel and Donkey (most costumes provided)
End of Year Liturgies
As a celebration of gratitude and thanks for our year at Holy Family, each grade will be holding an end of year Liturgy over the last few weeks of this term.
Parents are warmly invited to attend these Liturgies which will be held in the classrooms unless otherwise stated.

Tiny Forest Biodiversity Family Day
The Ku-ring-gai Tiny Forest was planted in June 2024 by local school children and community volunteers at West Pymble Village Green.
It consists of species from the endangered vegetation community, the Sydney Turpentine-ironbark Forest, which naturally thrives amongst wet rainforest on ridgelines and supports threatened species such as the Glossy Black Cockatoo and the Powerful Owl.
The Tiny Forest is being cared for by a group of passionate Tree Keeper volunteers who meet once a month on a Sunday to monitor the health of the plants, check the soil and maintain the forest by weeding regularly. The volunteers produce a report every month documenting the health of the plants and monitoring the conditions within the forest and have also created their own plant identification guide to assist the group in leaning about the plants and how to ID them.
Earthwatch will be facilitating the Biodiversity Monitoring Day on Sunday November 17, from 9:00- 12:00pm for the 6-month anniversary of the forest being planted. This will consist of measuring plants, testing the soil and monitoring biodiversity etc.
If you would like to get involved with the Tiny Forest program you can register your interest and contribute to citizen science through attending the monitoring day at West Pymble Village Green..
If you would like to be involved in the Tiny Forest on an ongoing basis, you are also welcome to sign up as a Tree Keeper volunteer. This is a great way to connect with your local community, you can register as a volunteer by getting in touch with Earthwatch at hello@earthwatch.org.au.

School Student Travel Information for Parents and Students
School student travel information for parents and students School Travel Passes Applications are now open for 2025 School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS) travel. Students in the Opal network applying for an Opal card (including a Term Bus Pass) for the first time will receive their School Opal card at their nominated postal address from mid-January 2025. Students who require a School Opal card or travel pass but have not yet applied need to apply or update their details as soon as possible. In the Opal network, students should travel with a Child/Youth Opal card until they receive their valid School Opal card. If outside Greater Sydney, parents should contact their local bus operator to discuss their travel needs.
Terms of Use Students using School Opal cards must tap on and tap off in line with the Opal terms of use. This includes travel within the approved times between 6.30am and 7.00pm from Monday to Friday on school days only. Students must use their Child/Youth Opal card for any travel outside these times. All students are required to comply with the Student code of conduct. The code of conduct aims to ensure the safety and well-being of school children and other passengers. It is important that parents ensure their child is aware of this, as failure to comply with the code of conduct can result in a suspension from travel. |
