Remembrance Day - Poppy Appeal Items Available

This year we will again have our grade six leaders represent the school at the wreath laying ceremony at Buninyong RSL Park on Monday 11 November.

In the lead up to this day, we will be selling poppies at school. The red poppy has come to symbolise remembrance and hope for a peaceful future.

We have a variety of pins, bracelets and pens available for either $2, $3, $4, $5 or $10.

There is also a donation box for anyone wishing to make a contribution. All of these funds will be forwarded to the Buninyong RSL.

GRANDPARENTS AND SPECIAL FRIENDS DAY

A reminder to everyone that we have our Grandparents and Special Friends Day on November 29.  This is always a big event and one of the highlights on the school calendar.

If your children have grandparents that can attend, please invite them along, but if not, they are welcome to invite anyone else that is special to them…that might even be you.

Our guests are invited to come along between 9:00am and 11:00am to visit classrooms and we will have people around to help visitors find the relevant classrooms.  Our teachers will organise activities during this time that allow our grandparents and special friends to get involved.

At 11:00am our visitors will be invited to the BER for some morning tea and a chat.  In the past we have had parents bring along a plate, resulting in an amazing spread for our grandparents to enjoy.  We’d like to do the same again and invite all families to send something along.  We also need a few adults to help organise and serve morning tea.  Please let staff in the office know if you are able to help.  We’ll be looking for helpers between 10am and midday, but any help during that period would be appreciated.

To give you a sense of the day, we have included some photos from last year’s event.

School Breakfast Club Update

As mentioned, after our selection and induction to the School Breakfast Club Program (SBCP) we have started trialling components in preparation for a full roll out in 2025.

All classrooms now have a fruit bowl, and all students can enjoy fresh fruit during eating times throughout the week.

In addition to breakfast, the program also offers home food packs for students and families in need. If you’d like to discuss this in confidence, please contact Narelle.

How Can You Help? The Breakfast Club relies on volunteers to keep things running. At this stage, our plan is to operate on a couple of mornings per week. If you’d like to get involved or learn more, please reach out to Narelle Sullivan at narelle.sullivan@education.vic.gov.au

We’re excited to see how this program will strengthen and support our school community, and we look forward to working together to make it a success!

Student Dress Code

A reminder that we expect all of our students to be in full school uniform at all times while at school.

Please ensure any generic items purchased for school are logo free and in line with our uniform guidelines, which can be found here: https://buninyongps.vic.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/BPS-Uniform-Guidelines-2022.pdf

At the moment we have particularly noticed students wearing shorts other than school shorts or with logos, and socks with patterns and logos.  Please also note that bike shorts are not part of our school uniform, unless worn underneath a dress or pinafore.

We are very proud of our school and the reputation we have earned for excellence in education. The wearing of school uniform is one way we actively demonstrate our pride and our belonging.

Your help in ensuring that all students are in the correct uniform is appreciated.

Bunjil Awards

Congratulations to the following students who received a Bunjil Award at the last assembly.

Bunjil awards recognise student achievement and those who display our school values of being respectful, responsible and kind.

Well done! All of our recipients enjoyed a hot chocolate or zooper dooper with a principal.
