5/6 Basketball Gala Day, Term 3

Last term, our Grade 5/6 students had an incredible time competing in the Grade 5/6 Basketball Gala Day at MSAC Stadium. Our teams faced some tough competition, going up against skilled opponents from other schools, but despite the challenge, they performed amazingly, showcasing excellent teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship throughout the day. It was great to see our students pushing themselves and supporting each other on and off the court. Well done to everyone involved!

Paralympian Reece Langdon Inspires Our Grade 3-6 Students

We were thrilled to welcome Paralympian Reece Langdon to our school for a special presentation to our Grade 3-6 students this week. Reece, who competed in the 1500m at the Paralympic Games, shared his incredible journey of overcoming challenges, setting goals, and achieving his dreams as an elite athlete and bringing home a bronze medal from the Paralympic games.

During his presentation, Reece spoke about the importance of resilience, determination, and having a positive mindset, no matter the obstacles we face. He also gave students insight into his training regime, his experience competing on the world stage, and the support he received from his family and community.

Our students were captivated by Reece’s stories and left feeling inspired to pursue their own passions with the same level of dedication. After the talk, Reece answered questions from our students, offering valuable advice about working hard, staying focused, and never giving up.

It was an unforgettable experience for everyone, and we’re grateful to Reece for taking the time to visit and motivate our young learners.

News from STEM

In Prep, we have been learning about the different ways we can measure the weather. We created our own wind socks and took them outside to measure how strong the wind was. The students recorded their observations when there was no wind, a light breeze and strong wind.

In Year 1/2 , we have been learning about the different habitats in Australia. The students have been learning about the animals and plants that live in these habitats and how they are adapted to live there. The students have designed and labelled a triorama of each habitat and identified ways in which we can protect these special habitats.

In Year 3/4 , we have been creating our solar system mobiles. The students had to carefully create their planets using a scale. They then had to design their planets and place them in order in the solar system. We also looked at different knots we could use to securely tie our mobile system together.

In Year 5/6 , the students began making their posters for their stop motion movie of their migration animal. We explored the different ways to present our information in a clear and concise way. The students used their checklist to help ensure they were including relevant information and worked on their evaluating skills throughout the lessons.
